Accused of profiting from unnecessary electrical work
GERARD Beary from Little Ash, Ard Alainn, Castlebridge stood accused at the District Court in Wexford of profiting from unnecessary electrical work he carried out at the home of a 79-year-old woman with a visual disability.
The defendant was charged by Garda Leonard Casey with an offence dating back to December 2015.
It was alleged that Beary made a phone call to Mary Malone claiming to be from the ESB about a problem with her meter. He then charged her €700 to carry out the work.
He was later traced by detectives through mobile phone records. The matter was adjourned to October 2 when the accused will be asked to indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty.
