Lidl give €1,000 to Marine Watch

WEX­FORD Marine Watch were se­lected as Char­ity of the Week and re­ceived a gen­er­ous do­na­tion of €1,000 from Lidl Ire­land as part of the new ini­tia­tive in the Lidl Com­mu­nity Works Pro­gramme.

Wex­ford Marine Watch have over 90 trained vol­un­teers who help pre­vent the loss of life, as well as mak­ing peo­ple aware of the dan­gers of the wa­ter and pro­vide as­sis­tance to any­one who may be in dif­fi­culty. Since the group’s in­cep­tion, no­body has lost their life through sui­cide in Wex­ford Har­bour to date.

Lidl Wex­ford Store Man­ager Edgars Spoles said: ‘My­self and my team in Wex­ford are proud to have se­lected Wex­ford Marine Watch as our Char­ity of the Week. Since set­ting up in De­cem­ber 2012, Wex­ford Marine Watch has be­come an in­te­gral sup­port func­tion in Wex­ford with its Sui­cide Pre­ven­tion Pa­trols along the quays in Wex­ford.’
