Shamrock Rovers show class PREMIER DIVISION

-

SHAMROCK Rovers showed they will be a force to be reckoned with this season, making it two wins out of two with a 5-0 demolition of newly-promoted Bridge Rovers at The Bogside on Sunday.

Dan Carroll helped himself to a double for the Enniscorthy side, with Willie Dobbs, Eamonn O’Brien and Ricky Dwyer adding a goal apiece.

Gorey Rangers also maintained their winning start with a hard-fought triumph away to Tombrack. The visitors led 1-0 at the break thanks to a David ‘Swack’ Behan strike but Eoin Carton drew the home side level ten minutes into the second-half.

However, Gorey Rangers grabbed the winner with three minutes remaining, with Mark Woods hitting the back of the net.

Bunclody have also garnered six points from the opening two games and on Sunday they edged out last season’s Division 1 champions Corach Ramblers, with a Jason Somers goal the difference between the sides.

A single goal was also enough for Courtown Hibs as they saw off New Ross Celtic, with Stephen Redmond hitting the back of the net for the north county side.
