We take late-night supermarket shopping for granted today - but things weren’t always this way. 35 years ago this month, for instance, Londis took out large adverts to announce that its stores at South Main Street and St. Aidans Shopping Centre in Wexford would begin to offer ‘late’ weekend opening. They would now remain open on Fridays until the heady hour of 7 p.m.!
