District Final in junior b football this Friday evening under the lights in Gusserane at eight o’clock. They beat Horeswood 3-07 to 1-06 to reach the final. Well done to the squad and their Mentor’s John O’Sullivan, David Currid and Jason Sinnott.

The intermedia­te footballer­s ended their season on Saturday last with a loss to Ballyhogue. Scoreline of 12 points to 1-18. Thanks to the squad for the year and to Pat, Larry, Ken and Michael.

Our under-12 girls played St Fintan’s in Wexford Park on Sunday last in their County Final. Well done girls for getting so far and thanks to their mangement team.

The under-12 boys’ football team have succeed to the County Final after travelling to and winning against Blackwater on Tuesday. Final score B/B 2-10 B/W one – 0. Hugh achievemen­t lads from the goalkeeper right up to the sub line well done.

The ladies’ football club presents the two Johnnies live in Tír na nÓg, Wellington­bridge, followed by DJ Kieran Furlong on Saturday, September 23. Starting at 9 p.m. till late, finger food on the night. ART EXHIBITION

Textured Landscape, an exhibition of fine art will open on September 16, at 3 p.m. in Grantstown church.

Grantstown Day Care Centre in associatio­n with Wexford County Council and Creative Ireland is pleased to present works of the centre’s residents, regular visitors as well as profession­al local artists.

Although the exhibition acts primarily as a platform for presenting works of the residents and day service guests of the centre, the exhibition includes works from Terry Dunne, ceramics from Patricia Howard, prints and installati­ons from Michelle Colfer, and Nick Jarman, stone works by Barbara Kelly and photograph­y by Lar O’Toole.

Also coming up is a Grand Raffle for a Silver 2009 Toyota Yaris Luna five door, 1.0 litre (immaculate condition). Tickets on sale now please contact our reception for more details at 051 561016.

Volunteers – We want to say a Big Thank You to all our volunteers here at Grantstown. Our volunteers are a valuable asset to us and without them we wouldn’t be able operate as well as we do. We have 20 Volunteers and appreciate the help we receive from each and every one of you.

SOCIAL DANCING

Dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night from 9.30 p.m. with music this Thursday, September 14, Delta Dawn, September 21 Cupla and September 28South Bound. All welcome refreshmen­ts served.

BALLYMITTY HALL

Bingo – The weekly bingo on Monday nights will change back to an 8 p.m. start from Monday, October 2. Volunteers welcome to help out at our weekly bingo, if you have some free time on a Monday evening and wish to volunteer please contact Ballymitty Hall at 087 2664412.

5K Family Fun Run/Walk/ Crawl – takes place on Sunday, September 17, at 11 a.m. leaving from Ballymitty Hall. Registrati­on at 10 a.m. on morning. €10 per adult/€5 per child. Prizes to be won, tea party for all the survivors. Proceeds in aid of Ballymitty New Hall Fund.

The parent and toddler group will start again week commencing September 11. Con Doyle as Maurice and Trish Boyce as Aimee.

We are really looking forward to bringing this fantastic play to our wonderful audiences. Final castings have been selected for the one-act plays which will be staged during the Wexford Opera Festival in October. More details to follow.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Kilmore camogie club will host their annual autumn Clothes Collection on Saturday, October 7, in Kimore GAA complex. For all your unwanted items we will gladly dispose of them for you. We take clothes, shoes, coats, bags, belts, duvet covers, towels. For anyone that has no room to store these items we will also look after that for you please contact Marion Cousins or Lorraine Dillion or any committee member and we will take them off your hands.

YOGA

Kundalini Yoga starts back in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Monday, September 11, at 6 p.m. For flexibilit­y and strength. All Age groups welcome. €5 per class, pay-as-you-go. Bring yoga mat, cushion and blanket.

Congratula­tions to Sinéad O’Brien, who was first O/45 lady home in the West Waterford Greenway Half Marathon on Satruday September 2.

MICHAEL ENGLISH

Following his very successful cabaret last year, the community of Mulrankin are delighted to announce that Michael English and his band will be returning to Clayton Whites hotel this year on Thursday, November 30, in concert with special guest Brendan Shine.

SCOUTS

Registrati­on Night for all sections takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, in Tomhaggard social centre. Open to boys and Girls Beavers 6-8, Cubs 9-11, Scouts 12-15, Ventures 15-18. Limited numbers in some sections. Beavers resume on Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Cubs and Scouts on Wednesday, September 20, from seven to 8.30. Ventures start date is to be decided at Planning meeting with youth members on the 13th.

A big thank you to everyone who supported the 5k Fun Run and Walk last Sunday. Thanks also to the marshals and volunteers who provided refreshmen­ts and Eimear and Sarah for organising the event.

A total of €1,986 was raised after expenses, over the summer from Tractor Run, 5k Fun Run, Trolley raffles in Bridgetown and Piercestow­n. This was possible through the generousit­y of the community and volunteers. There was also a table quiz and garden parties held with all funds going for improvemen­t projects at the centre.

CRAFTY SEWCIALISI­NG

Do you own a Sewing machine but don’t know how to use it or want to use it more? Learn a new skill or upskill your knowledge while meeting like minded people and enjoy a cuppa. STOP FOOD WASTE

Bridgetown Community Developmen­t is delighted to bring the ‘Stop Food Waste Challenge’ to Bridgetown starting Friday, September 15, at 11 a.m. with the support of Tidy Towns and the community.

The Challenge is for householde­rs to set themselves a target to reduce their food waste by at least a quarter. By doing this you may be able to save your household as much as €60 a month. The challenge will involve you attending four one hour meetings which will take place over a four-week period. The meetings will take place in the AOH Hall Bridgetown from 11 a.m. to midnight on September 15, 22, 29 and October 6. SCOPE MEETING

Kilmore Scope will be holding a meeting on Thursday, September 14, at 7.30 p.m., to which all members are requested to attend. Repairs and decorating will be high on the agenda as a lot of work has been carried out over the last few months and continues in the halls centenary year.
