Clang Sayne fuse music, song, art and literature

-

ART and music will merge when the acclaimed quartet Clang Sayne, featuring Wexford woman Laura Hyland perform at Wexford Arts Centre on Sunday, October 8 as part of an eight-date Irish tour.

The group will be performing songs from their Music Network-funded album ‘The Round Soul of the World’.

Clang Sayne was formed in London in 2008 by singer and guitarist Laura to fuse folk song, classical music, sound art and literature into a unique concert experience.

The Wexford resident has a Sandy Denny-like classic folk voice that wraps itself around timeless lyrics of nature, life, love and mortality as well as texts by Dorothy Parker and other poets.

The Wexford performance will feature prints by the re- nowned visual artist David Begley, created by him in response to songs from the Clang Sayne album which was released earlier this year.

Hyland will be joined by Judith Ring on voice and cello; Matthew Jacobson (drums/ voice) and Carolyn Goodwin (bass, clarinet/voice) in an approach to song craft that has been described as ‘daring and unforgettable’. WEXFORD Light Opera Society’s Award Winning ‘Hits from the Musicals’ show will be staged in Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford as a Fringe event of Wexford Festival Opera from Monday, October 30, to Tuesday, November 2, nightly at 8 p.m.
