Kinsella runs in three tries

-

THE GOREY J2s, having narrowly lost out to Boyne the previous week, got their season back on track with a good win over a strong Wicklow side.

Lar Kinsella was the man of the match as he ran in three tries to help the home team to a comprehensive victory on a score of 34-13.

But it was not all easy going. Gorey did open the score with a Garrett Bater try for Cian Hadden to convert.

For the next 15 minutes Wicklow took control and ran in two tries to go 10-7 in front.

A Cian Hadden penalty saw Gorey draw level.

From then on Gorey seemed to up their game with Lar Kinsella scoring his first try after a fantastic run split the Wicklow defence to score under the posts. Hadden converted.

An early second-half penalty by Hadden saw Wicklow respond with similar to leave the score at 20-13.

But Kinsella was now to turn the game on its head as he latched on to every ball as the Gorey pack began to dominate.

He ran in two more tries for Cian Hadden who was flawless from the tee all day to convert and leave the final score at 34-13.

On an impressive day for Gorey, the backs were well served by Robert Harrington, Garrett Bater and Cian Hadden, with Tom Tomkins, James Mulligan and man of the match Lar Kinsella the pick of the pack.

Gorey will play Ashbourne next week in Clonattin in what should be another interesting game.
