Fun and flamenco

- By SARA GAHAN

WEXFORD stepped into a world of Spanish culture at a special evening held in the language school on Mary Street recently.

The free Spanish open day and fiesta was an informal get-together for students and the public, where they enjoyed wine, tapas, music and dance.

The school, which runs three terms of classes a year, held a Flamenco dance show and people joined in to learn some of the moves.

Qualified Spanish teacher Lolo Lázaro said: ‘We were delighted to announce the dates for this year’s Spanish language holiday in Spain. We will be going to my hometown of Cáceres, which is a hidden gem in western Spain.’

The holiday is an intensive one-week course for adults, where they can learn the language and experience the culture with the locals.

The first holiday will be Sunday, April 1, then Sunday, June 24, and Sunday, August 19. The price, €975, includes accommodation, bus transfers, all course material and cultural activities.

‘Students need to book their own flights and arrange their own insurance,’ said Lolo.

Lolo is a qualified teacher who has operated the Spanish centre on Mary Street for seven years together with help from teachers Maria and Inma.

They provide Spanish language classes for adults and children in Wexford and Cáceres and focus on developing conversational skills in a relaxed atmosphere.
