Council condemns senseless ‘kebab’ attacks on the library

-

UNRULY patrons of fast-food outlets in Wexford have been blamed for a spate of ‘kebabing’ in the town centre.

Over the past few weeks, the town library has been vandalised several times, each ‘kebab’ attack leaving a trail of grease on the granite walls and fast-food dertritus in the street outside.

While the rubbish is easy enough to clear away, the grease marks left on the walls on the Mallin Street building are almost impossible to remove. The council’s communications officer David Minogue said the council ‘is very disappointed to see that some of the patrons of fast food outlets in the vicinity of Wexford Library choose to act in this manner’.

‘Wexford Library provides a much valued and important service annually to thousands of diverse customers from across the community spectrum. It represents very much a community building and its abuse in this way is very difficult to understand,’ said Mr Minogue. ‘We appeal to the minority of public who engage in this unacceptable behaviour to think twice before disposing of their waste food in this manner, but to use one of the many bins available in the area.’ Anyone seeing such an incident taking place or who may know who is responsible is asked to contact the council’s environment section.
