Man in tent here on expired visa

-

A MAN staying in a tent at Ferrycarrig near Wexford was not entitled to be in this country, Wexford Court was informed. Richard Kuhn of no fixed Irish abode was brought before Judge Gerard Haughton by gardaí.

He was described as an ‘overstayer’ and stood charged with failure to produce valid documents.

It was stated that he had arrived in Ireland in March with a 90-day holiday visa which had now expired. The prosecution applied for conditions to be attached to the granting of bail as he had family connections in this jurisdiction.

Judge ruled that he must have no contact with his brothers Anthony and Francis, with any visits to his elderly mother to be arranged so that they would not be present. Kuhn then signed a bail bond but the judge found that the bond was not valid as the defendant wrote in the words ‘with objection’.

Instead of walking out of the courthouse in Ardcavan, the accused found himself remanded in custody until October 9.
