Team Zurich drive to victory in Chamber golf classic

TEAM Zurich won the Wexford Chamber Golf Classic event in aid of St Patrick’s Special School in Enniscorth­y.

The winners scored 57.7 points, with Wexford Golf Club runners-up on 59.2 points, The ‘nearest to the pin’ prize went to Nick Reville and ‘longest drive’ to Denis Duggan.

The Zurich team were presented with the AIB perpetual trophy, a beautiful crystal vase first awarded in 1997.

The event was sponsored by Donohue Skoda in Enniscorth­y and supported by many local businesses who donated funds for prizes.

St Patrick’s principal Lee Rogers said the school was ‘absolutely delighted that the Chamber chose to help the school’, adding that the children were also very thankful.

CEO of Wexford Chamber, Madeleine Quirke, thanked everybody for their support and said they are already looking forward to next year’s golf classic.

Sean Mythen provided music during the evening’s celebratio­ns and all players enjoyed a delicious supper in Masters Restaurant at Wexford Golf Club.
