Team Zurich drive to vic­tory in Cham­ber golf clas­sic

TEAM Zurich won the Wex­ford Cham­ber Golf Clas­sic event in aid of St Pa­trick’s Spe­cial School in En­nis­cor­thy.

The win­ners scored 57.7 points, with Wex­ford Golf Club run­ners-up on 59.2 points, The ‘near­est to the pin’ prize went to Nick Reville and ‘long­est drive’ to De­nis Dug­gan.

The Zurich team were pre­sented with the AIB per­pet­ual tro­phy, a beau­ti­ful crys­tal vase first awarded in 1997.

The event was spon­sored by Dono­hue Skoda in En­nis­cor­thy and sup­ported by many lo­cal busi­nesses who do­nated funds for prizes.

St Pa­trick’s prin­ci­pal Lee Rogers said the school was ‘ab­so­lutely de­lighted that the Cham­ber chose to help the school’, adding that the chil­dren were also very thank­ful.

CEO of Wex­ford Cham­ber, Madeleine Quirke, thanked ev­ery­body for their sup­port and said they are al­ready look­ing for­ward to next year’s golf clas­sic.

Sean Mythen pro­vided mu­sic dur­ing the evening’s cel­e­bra­tions and all play­ers en­joyed a de­li­cious sup­per in Mas­ters Restau­rant at Wex­ford Golf Club.
