Motorbike clocked at 178 km/h

A SPEED of 178 km/h earned two years off the road for learner permit motor-cyclist Luke O’Shea from Ballinashagh, Waterford.

The District Court sitting in Wexford heard that O’Shea performed an overtaking manoeuvre at Harristown in Taghmon on July 27.

The judge reckoned the illegal speed was around 110 miles per hour ‘in old money’ as he put it.

He was told that the accused resided in Waterford but worked in Wexford.

A fine of €500 was added to the driving ban and the conviction for dangerous driving.
