Polly shines with hat-trick for Curracloe

-

Curracloe United 3, All Blacks 0: Polly Redmond was the main difference between these sides as she scored a hat-trick in an otherwise closely-contested match.

One of the goals was a long-range effort from midfield which just caught the All Blacks ’keeper off her line. Curracloe led 2-0 at the break.

Ballindaggin A.F.C. 1, Wexford Youths 0: The home side got off to a winning start and once again look to be Curracloe’s main challengers, with Leah Roban scoring the only goal of a very close but hard-fought encounter. Both sides produced some excellent football with Youths well in the match but unable to break down the Ballindaggin defence.

Tombrack United 4, Bridge Rovers 2: A very exciting six-goal thriller saw Tombrack open their campaign with a win as they eventually overcame a hard-working Bridge Rovers 4-2.

Aoife McEldowney scored both for Rovers while Mikayla Tobin-Cosgrave, Megan Hayes, Kate Tomkins and Emer Roche all registered for the home side.

St. Leonards 1, Bunclody A.F.C. 4: Bunclody made the long journey to Ballycullane a worthwhile one when they overcame the home side 4-1, although the game was much closer than the scoreline might suggest.

Katie Ryan was on target for St. Leonards but two goals from Lauren Jordan and one each from Leah Kavanagh and Mia Dunne gave Bunclody the three points.

Rosslare Strand 1, Seaview United 1: These two sides played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Lucia Donohoe scoring for Strand while Marie McDonald was on target for Seaview, with both sides content with a point at the end of this match.

Cushinstown A.F.C. 1, St. Joseph’s 3: St. Joseph’s got off to a winning start when they travelled to Terrarath and came away with all three points as they overcame the home side 3-1.

Courtown Hibs 6, Aughrim Rangers 0: The home side got their season off to a winning start when they overcame a young Aughrim side with six goals to spare.

Zoe Hernandez scored a hat-trick with Izzy Kenna netting twice, while Faith Kenna was also on target.

Bree United 2, Carnew F.C. 1: Karen O’Brien scored for Carnew but it was not enough as goals from Casey Cullahan and Lara Donegan gave Bree victory in a very close entertaining encounter.

Adamstown 2, Corach Ramblers 12: Corach Ramblers were much too strong for a young Adamstown side and ran out comfortable winners. April Byne scored four, Keelan Gallagher added a hat-trick, Lily Mullins scored twice, with Ali Carroll, Sophie Power and Alisha Roche all adding a goal each.

Elsewhere, Ballindaggin seconds earned a 2-0 win away to New Ross Town seconds.
