Cloughbawn pick up another three points

Division 2 pacesetter­s Cloughbawn got another three points on the board by seeing off Fastnet Rovers 3-1 on Sunday. Darragh O’Connor fired them in front after half an hour with a well-taken goal from outside the box and Martin Kehoe doubled the advantage before the interval.

Fastnet Rovers pulled a goal back and pressed hard for the equaliser, but Páidí Cullen curled a left-footed shot to the top corner to ensure the visitors took the points.

St. Cormac’s are hot on their heels in second place after overwhelmi­ng Adamstown 5-0, with goals from Jamie DempseyDoy­le, Paul ‘Roddy’ Doyle, Seán Roche, James Sweeney and Ray O’Brien. Crossabeg also hit the back of the net five times, with David Berney, Cian Boggan, Cian O’Connor, Ciarán Marlowe and Oran Maddock all scoring in a 5-1 triumph.

Brendan McCreary (two), Seán Keane and Dean Winston got the goals for St. Joseph’s in their 4-2 win over Wexford Celtic, while Adam Sinnott scored for Taghmon United as they drew 1-1 with Stoney Rovers.

Enniscorth­y United continue to lead the way in Division 3 after a 4-1 win in Cushinstow­n on Sunday.

The hosts took the lead but United stormed back in style to take the points, with John Whelan (two), Conor Heffernan and Jamie Fox getting their goals. Gorey Rangers also chalked up another win, with Killian Cushe (two), Damian Truchan and James Lynch scoring in a 4-1 win over Duncannon, while Rosslare Port saw off Bree United 5-2. Forth Celtic scored through Aaron Whitty and an own goal as they drew 2-2 away to Ajax Athletic.

Bridge Rovers moved to the summit of Division 3A thanks to a 2-1 win over Oylegate United on Sunday. Paul McCleane and David O’Brien got the goals for the Castlebrid­ge men with Ciarán Hillery replyng from the penalty spot.

Rathnure were the leaders going into the weekend, but they were brought back to earth with a bang by a rampant Ballymurn outfit. Billy Roche bagged a double for the 5-2 winners, with Paul Dempsey (penalty), P.J. Bourke and Dec Kealy also getting in on the act and Rory Higgins and Anthony Westnott replying for Rathnure.

Frank Staples and Peter Finn got the goals for Raheen in their 2-0 win over Rosbercon, while Wexford Albion beat New Ross Celtic by the same scoreline, with Luke O’Neill and Ian McGuire hitting the back of the net.

Rosslare Strand earned the local bragging rights by beating Rosslare Rangers 3-1, with Tyrone O’Reilly (two) and Kenny O’Reilly scoring for the winners and Fintan Wickham replying.

It was six of the best for Wexford Bohs on Sunday as they made it a half dozen wins on the trot when overcoming Carne F.C. 2-0. Alan Flood and Aaron Walsh got the goals for the pacesetter­s as they continued their perfect start to the campaign.

Corach Ramblers have also been going along nicely and a John Staples double earned them a 2-1 win over Crossabeg, with Davy Fenlon replying.

All Blacks chalked up a 2-1 triumph away to The Ballagh, with goals from Peter Goldsmith and Aaron Wright-Power, while Conor McGrath and Anthony Peare scored for Caim United as they saw off Castledock­rell 2-0.

Courtown Hibs certainly had their shooting boots on as they overpowere­d Curracloe United 8-0, with goals from Conor Berney (two), Graham Greene, Dave Fitzpatric­k, Lorcan Rossiter, Ian Travers, Robbie Brooks and Oisin Condren, while Ferns beat Camolin 2-0.

Glynn-Barntown moved level with Cloughbawn at the top of Division 4A thanks to a 9-1 win over Tombrack on Sunday.

Robert Dempsey helped himself to a hat-trick, M.J. Kinsella added a double, with Shane Wilde, John Leacy, Bill Joyce and Barry Doyle adding a goal apiece and John Kavanagh replying for Tombrack. Gorey Celtic came out on top 4-2 against Wexford Albion, with Maksymilia­n Denisiuk converting two penalties, substitute Gavin Goodwin adding a double of his own, and Ciarán Carty replying with a brace.

Boolavogue won 3-1 in Ballymurn with two goals from Tony Ryan, one from the penalty spot, and a Shane Grannell strike.

Enniscorth­y United fought back from two goals down at the break to earn a share of the spoils against Taghmon United.

Strikes from John Doyle and Shane Power had Taghmon in a strong position at the interval, but goals from Bill Rigley and Mick Rigley earned a point for the Enniscorth­y men. Elsewhere, Pa O’Brien hit the back of the net for St. Joseph’s in their 1-1 draw away to Wexford Celtic.

Rosslare Port had reason to celebrate on Sunday when they inflicted the first defeat of the season on Kiltealy Celtic, running out 5-4 winners. Enniscorth­y Town are sitting pretty at the top of the table after a 3-0 win away to Bree United, while St. Leonards saw off Stoney Rovers 4-0 with goals from Seamie Kehoe, Eamonn Whitty, Tarique Ngouoto and an own goal. Craig Wickham (two) and Dawid Ruszczycki hit the back of the net for New Ross Town, but they lost out 5-3 to Ferns United, while Killenagh and Camolin drew 2-2.

Dean Fortune was the hat-trick hero for St. Cormac’s as they won 4-1 in Adamstown, with Mark Rossiter getting their other goal and David Cadogan replying.
