Food Tourism project gets €47k
A total of €46,883 in funding has been allocated for the development of Food Tourism across County Wexford. Following on from the success of the Enniscorthy Food Tourism initiative which included the development of the Rockin’ Food Festival, O’Connell Marketing Ltd and Wexford County Council submitted a comprehensive plan to expand the agri food tourism offering across the county through a programme of events, training, promotions and marketing.
Minister for Agriculture,
Food and the Marine Michael
Creed last week announced that the County Wexford project was one of just six across the country that would be assigned funding under the
Rural Innovations and Development Fund. The County
Wexford Food Tourism plan will be lead by Jean O’Connell of O’Connell Marketing
Ltd and Liz Hore, District
Manager of the Enniscorthy
Municipal District, along with Siobhan O’Neill from Visit Wexford and chef and food consultant Anthony O’Toole.
The project will get underway with a number of information workshops across the county on October 19 and 24 for food producers and anyone involved in the food tourism industry. Sessions will take place at a venue to be decided in Wexford from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on October 19 and in Nutshell Café in New Ross from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the same day. On October 24, they will take place in Enniscorthy from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at The Wilds Café and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in The Book Café in Gorey.
