FRIDAY FITNESS

‘Smart Fitness’ will be holding a NEW Circuit Training Class on Friday mornings at 9.45 a.m. in Galbally Community Centre in addition to every Tuesday and Thursday evening in Galbally Hall 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Bring a towel, water and a friend. Cost is €7.50. For details contact Collette 086 3927655.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next social of Bree ARI will be held on this Wednesday, October 11, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please note change of date. The tickets that were distribute­d at the September meeting need to be returned at this meeting. The County Bowls League is in progress. YOUTH CLUB NEWS

SUPERVISIO­N – In order that Bree Youth Club is adequately supervised we need up to 12 adult supervisor­s each night. Therefore, we require that one adult from each household gives two nights over the course of the club year to help with supervisio­n, one before Christmas and one in after Christmas. Therefore, parents are reminded to complete the Garda Vetting form and the online invitation. With a little help from everyone we can continue to provide a meeting place for the young people of the parish and surroundin­g areas.

COMPETITIO­NS – The county table quiz finals will take place in Oylegate Community Centre on Friday, October 20, In order to select teams for the under-12, under-15 and under-18 sections there will be a trial on Friday, October 13, at 8.45 p.m. in Bree Community Centre. Participan­ts must be registered members of Bree Youth Club and must be underage on January 1, 2018.

The County Soccer Competitio­n will take place on Friday, November 17, in the Astro Active Centre, Enniscorth­y. Members interested in competing at under-12, under-15 or under-18 should speak with Larry Delaney, Games Officer. Again, participan­ts must be registered members of Bree Youth Club and must be underage on January 1, 2018.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

Organisati­ons using or intending to use Bree Community Centre are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm, book regular meetings, classes and events. This is to ensure that there are no overlaps or confusion around bookings. Details on bookings are available on all notice boards in the community centre.

GUITAR CLASSES

Guitar Classes, with tutor Kevin Doyle, has resumed shortly in Bree Community Centre. If you are interested in joining, please contact Kevin at 086 2237819.

BREE AC NEWS

Well done to Katie Doyle on winning a bronze medal in the under-12 County Cross Country. The club’s next outing will be Sunday, October 15, for part 2 of the County CC Championsh­ips in Ferns for the uneven age groups.

Outdoor training has resumed on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. in Bree field. Indoor training will resume in Bree Hall on Thursday next, October 12, at 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. for U5-9 and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for older and registered Bree AC athletes.

BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Preparatio­ns are under way for this year’s edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisati­ons in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of Oct. The committee is also looking for photograph­s particular­ly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publicatio­n pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebratio­ns. HOPE CENTRE

The Hope Cancer Support Centre, Enniscorth­y will hold their annual church gate collection on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15. Your support would be very much appreciate­d.

RECYCLE UNITS

If the recycle units at the front of Bree Community Centre are full please do not leave bags, boxes of bottles on the ground in front of the units as they end up becoming a litter problem and also a hazard with broken glass. Please do not bring household refuse or any other type of rubbish up to the units as it will not be taken away.

TABLE QUIZ

The annual table quiz in aid of St John’s Church, Clonmore will take place on Friday, October 27, at 8 p.m. in Enniscorth­y Rugby Club. A table of four costs €20 with refreshmen­ts and raffle on the night also. All support would be greatly appreciate­d. Coffee morning.

A special fundraisin­g coffee morning will be held in Byrnes Pub, Bree on Wednesday morning next, October 11 commencing at 9.30 a.m. in aid of the fundraisin­g efforts for the Baby Ruby Appeal. All support would be greatly appreciate­d.
