FREE FUN DAY FOR ALL THE FAMILY

On Tuesday, October 31, there will be a great free family event in Gorey Town Park from 12 noon until 4 p.m.

It will include a Halloween Treasure Trail in associatio­n with Gorey Youth Needs and Gorey Chamber of Commerce. The park will be decorated for Halloween and there will be spooky Pirates Cove train rides, face painting, arts and crafts and a special Halloween Activity Trail. There will also be a Scarecrow Making workshop or you can bring along your own scarecrow and enter the ‘Very Gorey Halloween Scarecrow Competitio­n’.

Also on the day there will be a carved pumpkin competitio­n (bring along your pumpkin) and an autumn leaves collage - a fun art project that anyone can replicate in their back garden. Refreshmen­ts available.

The event has been organised by Gorey Municipal District with support of Gorey Youth Needs, Gorey Chamber of Commerce and local supporting businesses including: Gas Lamp Gallery & Cullen’s Fruit and Vegetables.

HALLOWEEN WORKSHOP

Halloween workshop at Wexford Lavender Farm between 1 a.m. and 12 noon. Gemma from Little Gems Baking Academy will be decorating scary but delicious buns (age 3+). The cost is €10 per child.

ENNISCORTH­Y MUSICAL SOCIETY HALLOWEEN PARTY

It looks set to be a wonderful night at the IFA Centre on Mill Park Road (9 p.m.) as Enniscorth­y Musical Society hosts its fancy dress party for adults. The evening will include a special screening of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ video and free ‘Thriller’ and ‘Time Warp’ dance classes are available for those who wish to take part at the IFA Centre earlier in the day from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. As well as this, there will be a DJ playing all the biggest hits from the 80s and 90s with some contempora­ry hits thrown in for good measure. Tickets are priced at €12 from the bar at the IFA Centre or from Musical Society Committee members.

HALLOWEEN FANCY DRESS PARTY

Dust off those halloween costumes and head for Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club for their special fancy dress party. Featuring music from the South Easts Premier DJs, there will also be free transport at the front gate every half hour from 10 p.m.

BLACKSMITH­ING COURSE

Blacksmith­ing Course with Guy Urbin in the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarri­g. Learn how to make a poker or candle holder or turn a horse shoe into a functional piece of hardware. Suitable for participan­ts aged 16 years and upwards. Wear steel toe cap safety boots or equivalent.

INTERACTIV­E STORYTELLI­NG

Wexford Arts Centre hosts ‘Which Way did the Witch Go’, interactiv­e Halloween stories for younger children and their parents with Red Moon Theatre. Starts 2 p.m.

HARRY’S OWL EXPERIENCE

Harry’s Owl Experience at the Irish National Heritage Park. Enter a magical world of wizardry. Make potions and spells, discover spooky creatures and meet Harry’s owls. Age group: 5 to 12 years.
