COMMUNITY CRAFT DAY

This year’s community craft day is being held in the Blackwater Lodge on Sunday November 26. This has been a successful promotion, exhibition and sales of crafts of the highest standard for the past number of years. Any crafter who would like to take a table at this event can contact Yvonne or the Blackwater Lodge, Blackwater.

COLÁISTE AN ÁTHA

The annual open evening will take place in the school on Thursday, October 26, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. All fifth and sixth class pupils and their parents/ guardians are especially welcome. Please come and take the time to meet some of the fantastic students who attend our school, to speak with our teachers and to view our beautiful school premises and buildings. Music classes at the Shelmalier/Crossabeg School of Music are back as follows (New timetable):

Beginner guitar with Mark.. 3.15 till 4. Mixed tin whistle 3.15 till 4.15 with Catherine. Keyboard 3.15 till 4 with Eve. Singing with Mark 4 till 4.30. Fiddle with eve 4 till 4.30. Bodhran 4.15 till 5 with Kevin. Advanced guitar 4.15 till 5 with Aidan. Adult and Secondary school students classes 4.45/55.30 to suit students coming off the buses. Button accordian/banjo mixed class 4.30 till 5.10.

BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Preparatio­ns for Bree Parish Journal are under way for this year’s edition due for publicatio­n before Christmas. All clubs and organisati­ons in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready for the end of October. SMART FITNESS

Smart Fitness takes place in Galbally Hall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. And on Friday mornings from 9.45 a.m. Cost per session is €7.50.

BREE AC NEWS

Indoor Training has resumed in Bree Hall on Thursday nights and outdoor training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evening, all starting at 7pm.

Well done to all the athletes who competed in the Co Cross Country Part 2 in Ferns last weekend. Results are as follows U9 Lea Bolger 2nd, Jayden Kenny 1st, Shane Laffan 7th U11 Katie Doyle 1st.

Next outing for the club will be the Leinster championsh­ips in Adamstown on November 12. so if you would like any item to be raised then please attend this general meeting.

GAA LOTTO DRAW

In the draw held October 18, numbers were 18, 24, 25 and 27 bonus 20. Lucky-dip winners were, Bryan mc Cormack, Ken Bolger, Michael Shiggins Snr, Lisa Bruce, Anthony Doyle, Pat Murphy, J O’Connor, Ned/Polly Maher. Next draw in Mernaghs on November 1, tickets available locally.

WITCH WALK

A Witch walk will take place on Friday, October 27. The children will walk from the school to the village on Friday morning in their Halloween Costumes and visit scare stations along the way. they will leave the school at 10 o’clock and return to the school for Halloween treats and games.

The community are welcome to come out to see the children and parents and Guardians are welcome to come back to the school for tea and refreshmen­ts afterwards.

MALE VOICE CHOIR

The concert will take place in the church on Friday, November 24. Members of the Glenbrien Parish Group will be going door to door in the next two weeks selling tickets for th night.

The children from the Holy Family Primary school will also be taking part in the concert. A great evening of entertainm­ent is guaranteed on the night.

PARISH GROUP MEETING

A meeting of the parish group will take place on Monday, November 6, in the Old school centre at 8.30 members will be notified.

PASTORAL GROUP

A Pastoral Group meeting will take place in the Old school centre on Monday, November 6, at 7.30 p.m. – all members are asked to attend please.

SHOE BOX COLLECTTIO­N

The Shoe box collection for the homeless people of Co Wexford is now under way. If you wish to make up a shoe box for the appeal collection will take place on Saturday, December 2, in the Old School centre from 10 a.m. to midday.

Items can include toiletries, socks gloves, hats scarves, travel mug, thermal items, torch, sweets, rain poncho and a Christmas card. Please label the box for adult Male or Female. MALE VOICE CHOIR

Annual Festival Concert which is ‘Live at Lunchtime’ in the Spiegelten­t on Wexford Quayfront at 2 p.m. on Bank Holiday Monday, October 30. Tickets €10 are available from wexfordspi­egeltent.com or from the Box Office on Main Street or by calling 053 9199199.

Special guest performer is well known Wexford singer Aileen Donohoe. Promises to be a hugely entertaini­ng evening.

MUSIC AT THE MANOR

Barntown’s Mayor, Mr Tom Dempsey presents MUSIC AT THE MANOR in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare and Barntown Parish – Music, Live Bands, Finger Food, DJ’s, Prizes and much more. TALENT NIGHT

A talent night will be held in Mernagh’s lounge Oylegate on Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m. All support would be greatly appreciate­d as all proceeds go to hospice. So come along for a good night of fun and entertainm­ent.

HOSPICE FUNDRAISER

Thanks to those who supported the fundraiser in Mernagh’s lounge, which raised €629 in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare. Thanks also to Eamonn and Sue for hosting the event and to Derek,/Paddy/Jonathan for providing the entertainm­ent.

GLENBRIEN TEXT ALERT

A general meeting of Glenbrien Text Alert will be held in the Old School Centre on Tuesday, November 7, at 8 p.m. Please attend as important issues will be discussed such as the purchase of a defibrilla­tor, security within the parish, possibly running a first aid training course and the Garda involvemen­t in the text alert scheme.

A divisional meeting of the text alert groups is being held in November so if you would like any item to be raised then please attend this general meeting.

BINGO FUNDRAISER

Bingo will be held in Mernagh’s lounge every Thursday for the next few weeks. All proceeds will go to Oylegate Church Repairs Fund. Please support.

LOCAL LINK WEXFORD

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communitie­s of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages.

The services will accommodat­e those attending appointmen­ts, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An informatio­n booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.
