Picture by Michael Kelly WEXFORD Camera Club launched its first calendar earlier this month.

PRO of the Camera Club Marie Phelan said the launch had been a great success..

‘It went very well and it is being very well received. We decided to do a calendar this year for a number of reasons to raise money for the club, to raise money for MarineWatch and also to challenge members.

‘The calendar was an opportunity for members to put themselves and their work out there. They were able to focus on Wexford town and county which is an area they love to photograph. It gives members a chance to have their work hanging on walls all over the county making it very accessible.’

The calendar which is €10 is on sale from SOS, Readers Paradise, the Book Centre and Spectrum in Wexford town as well as a number of locations across the county.

Marie said that the group were happy to pick MarineWatch to benefit from some of the calendar proceeds because of all the good work they do. ‘There is a very evocative and moving image of the bridge at the start of the calendar which explains all about MarineWatch and the work they do’, she said.

The calendar launch coincided with the launch of the festival exhibition from the club which is running daily at the Friends Meeting House on High Street until November 5. Secretary Ann Hyland said the exhibition features 44 images from club members, some of which have been sold.

She said members were free to chose any subject they liked to photograph for the exhibition adding that the images were then grouped into categories.
