SENTENCING ADJOURNED

SENTENCING in the case of a Castlebrid­ge man who pleaded guilty to a number of drug-related offences has been adjourned to allow for the preparatio­n of various reports.

David Doyle of Killelan, Castlebrid­ge, came before Judge Martina Baxter at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court.

The 50-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to the possession of cocaine, at Killelan, Castlebrid­ge, on January 26, 2016.

He further pleaded guilty to the possesson of cocaine for sale or supply; possession of MDMA on the same date and place; possession of MDMA for sale or supply; possession of cannabis resin; possession of cannabis resin for sale or supply; possession of cannabis herb; possession of cannabis herb for sale or supply.

Defence Counsel John O’Kelly requested an adjournmen­t of sentencing to January next to allow for the preparatio­n of a probation and welfare report.

Mr O’Kelly also said the defendant had been in receipt of psychiatri­ct treatment throughout the summer at Waterford Regional Hospital. As a result he requested free legal aid to allow for the preparatio­n of a psychologi­cal report. A urine analysis was also requested.

Stating there was no objection to bail, Prosecutin­g Counsel Sinead Gleeson also said there was no objection to the applicatio­ns.

Judge Baxter adjourned sentencing to January 30 next.
