THE fourth annual Hook Peninsula Photograph­y Exhibition opened at the Dunbrody Famine Ship on Thursday.

The competitio­n which is run by Hook Tourism, attracted over 100 entries in four categories.

The overall prize was won by Padraig Molloy for his captivatin­g and colourful image of Stonechat birds, taken at Hook Head.

Padraig also won the Up Close and Personal Category.

Prizes were also awarded to Michael Carroll, Man Made Category; Jennie Byrne, Hook Peninsula Experience Category; Mark Simpson, Discoverin­g the Hidden Category; and Catherine White for the People’s Choice Category. Prizes were presented by Norma Quinsey of Visit Wexford.

The exhibition will be on display in the Dunbrody Famine Ship until November 8 and will then travel to County Hall in Wexford for the month of January, followed by a number of libraries in the south east; showcasing the Hook’s built heritage, landscape, wildlife and people.

Last year’s exhibition went on to be seen by over 35,000 people at eight different venues.’
