Ladies deliver fine show

-

GOREY SENIOR ladies were back in action on Sunday against Suttonians. A strong start to the game saw Gorey apply early pressure to the Suttonians defence which paid off almost immediately.

The Gorey forwards made some strong carries which created space in the back line, and after some good hands Orla Molloy crossed over for the try in the corner.

From the resulting re-start Suttonians applied some pressure on the Gorey defence but the ball was cleared. From this Gorey launched another attack and some strong play saw Orla Molloy yet again cross over in the corner.

From a line-out Gorey launched another attack with some great running lines which led to Georgina Hearn making the most of a gap in the Suttonians defence and beating the last defender, crossing over to score the try which Triona Murray converted.

The second-half started as the first finished with Gorey applying pressure to the Suttonians defence. Anna Nolan made a break through the Suttonians defence and crossed over to score a try which was converted by Triona Murray.

Suttonians had some good possession in the Gorey half but the defence held firm, and from the turnover Ciara Tomkins kicked clear with Triona Murray picking up the loose ball and running through to score the try which she converted.

Gorey kept on the attack and some clever play saw Lauren Farrell-McCabe score a well-worked try.

Gorey retained possession and applied more pressure, and before the end of the game managed to score two more tries, firstly from Triona Murray and then from Eimear Hickey, with Triona Murray converting both.

This brought the final score to Gorey 48, Suttonians 0. Gorey take to the road next week to face MU Barnhall.
