TIME IS flying. With Halloween just over and Christmas around the corner, there is a feeling that 2017 does not have much more time for us. The good news is there is still almost two months left by the time you read this.

That is no small amount of time. If you use it well, it can put you in a very strong position ending 2017. If you use the time wisely, you will be ready for 2018 on your terms with habits that serve you well.

So if there is anything you did not do in 2017, that was on your ‘must do’ list, now is a great time to take action and make progress. You may not complete, but you can make a very good start. You may well complete.

If you want to write a book, you will surely get an outline and a few chapters done.

If you want to learn a skill, you can get started. If you want to clear out a part of your home, start today. If you want the garden of your life to look different this time next year, it is important to tend your seeds and plants every day. A thriving life garden needs daily attention. Weeding, watering, planting, pruning, fertilising etc.

If there are relationship matters you want to sort with family, friends, peers, colleagues or loved ones, now is a great time to address, forgive and let go before the year ends. You can always address your part of the problem. If things from your past are holding you back, why not let them go. Old grief, sadness, beliefs that are no longer serving you can all be looked at and released.

As humans, we have a tendency to overestimate what we can achieve in one day, and underestimate what we can achieve in a year. If you want to get the most out of the next 2 months, set small achievable goals for your day to day activities. Cumulatively, small daily wins bring big wins in life.

If you make a one percent improvement in any area of your life daily, that will result in a 3,800 per cent in a year because of compounding. In 55 days, you can make significant progress in any area of your life.

Years ago I used to get a bit down at this time of year. I would reflect on my year and feel I could have done better and that would get me down. Now, I look at things differently. If I feel I could do better, I realise the only thing is to go and do better now. There is no point beating yourself up. As Nike says, just do it.

They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. If your daily habits are not serving you, you could easily introduce two new ones or let go of two that are not serving you by the end of the year.

So whatever you have been putting off, go for it. Whether you want to bring something into or let go of something from your life, or you want to start or complete something, act today and set the scene to close 2017 well and happy. This will be an excellent foundation for the rest of your life too. Enjoy!
