Motorcyclist banned
A 66-year-old motorcyclist found on the road at Coolbrook in Wellingtonbridge without insurance cover told Judge Gerard Haughton he had lost his 50-year-old provisional driving licence.
Pat Nacey of Ballingly Wellingtonbridge pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no licence when stopped by Garda John Buggy in February.
Walking with the aid of a crutch, he came to court without a solicitor and entered a plea of guilty.
Asked why he was on the road without insurance, he said he had been in hospital at Christmas and indicated that his policy was a year expired.
The judge wondered whether the insurance company had looked for licence details before issuing a policy.
Six months was allowed for payment of a €300 fine which came with a two-year driving ban.
