FANTASTIC DAY!

-

A FANTASTIC fancy dress walk by children from Castlebridge School raised around €1,800 as part of the parents’ council’s fundraising drive.

Principal Ed Lyons said the walk, which saw the children dressed in a variety of Halloween costumes, was very well attended and supported, although he wasn’t yet sure of exactly how much had been raised.

‘The community is very good and supportive,’ he said. Mr Lyons said the fundraising drive was for extra sports facilities on the ground, astro turf and a building extension, and so far around €15,000 had been raised out of a €40,000 to €50,000 target.

On the day of the walk, the school received an extra boost in the shape of a cheque for €1,250 from the Bank of Ireland, which had promised to match-fund the €1,250 raised by a parents’ council fund raiser held outside Flanagan’s in the village over the August Bank holiday.

The cheque was presented to the school by BOI manager Andrew Owen.
