SCOUTS

Co Orienteeri­ng for all sections has been changed to Askamore on November 19 with staggered start times for groups. Kilmore have been allocated 11.30 so everyone needs to be there by 11 a.m. to prepare maps etc. Cost €5 per head. Full details have been given out at meetings.

TOMHAGGARD CENTRE

Stainless Steel Kitchen – Following the installati­on of a new kitchen in Tomhaggard social centre the original stainless steel one is for sale. Contact Angela 087 2840272 for details and dimensions.

Community Theatre – The workshops have started on Thursdays from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Tomhaggard social centre. Many areas of drama and theatre including acting, directing, stage management, design, lighting, sound, stage makeup and costumes will be covered over the six weeks all done through fun and exercises culminatin­g in a short performanc­e piece in December.

There’s also a Masterclas­s with Michael Dunbar MA Theatre Studies and well known Actor/ Director. The project in being undertaken by Ballycogle­y Players with the support of Creative Ireland funding. Open to Secondary school students to senior citizens.

Watercolou­r Workshop – There is a one-day workshop in Tomhaggard social centre on Saturday, November 25, from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for day e50 which includes all materials, tea or coffee and lunch. Bring home your completed creation at the end of the day. It is being run by Maria Murphy, well known local artist. To book a place or details contact Maria 086 3848364.

SYMPATHY

The death has occured recently of Pauline (Poll) Roche (née McDonnell) of St Anne’s Cleariesto­wn pacefully in Kerlogue Nursing Home. Sympathy to her sister Nora Stafford, Ballygrang­ans and to her daughter Ann Sarsfield Mulrankin, Bridgetown and all other family member and friends.

AFTERNOON TEA PARTY

Kilmore Quay ICA are holding an Afternoon Tea Party in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay on Sunday, November 19, at 3 p.m. All proceeds to Wexford Hospice Home care and SERT Wexford (free transport for cancer patients). A draw will take place for special raffle draw tickets – your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

DEATH

Belated Sympathy to the family of the late Sr Goretti, who passed away some two weeks ago. Sr Goretti spent several years in our parish of Kilmore while teaching in the school and was a very nice and well respected woman and sympathy also go to the Sisters of St John of God on their great loss.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

A coffee morning in aid of breast cancer awareness was held at Murphys Daybreak, Kilmore on Friday, October 27. It was a fantastic success and at the moment €1326.01 has been raised. The main organiser Assumpta Murphy would like to thank all who attended and to any one who donated goodies etc.

Assumpta was helped by her daughter Leanne and the staff in Murphys Stella and Val. Assumpta would also like to put on record a very special Thank You to Christine, Paul and P J for allowing her to hold the coffee morning in their premises which she hopes to run annually. Raffle winners were Tom Dunne, Leah Wall, Ailbe Kitts,

Eilish Stafford, Gay Hayes and Noel Howlin.

DEATH

The very sudden and unexpected death of Mrs Patsy Byrne, Ballygrang­ans Kilmore took place on Wednesday night last. Patsy was a very well known and very well respected lady both in the parish and also in Wexford town. Patsy was wife of the late Vin and sympathy goes out to all her family and friends and not forgetting all of Patsy’s Bridge friends.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

The Kilmore camogie club AGM will take place on Friday, November 17, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse. All adult players and parents are asked to come along. It would be great to see new people getting involved in our club.

Well done to our minor team, Kilross Gaels on a great win over St Anne’s today. They are in action again Sunday morning at 11 a.m. v Castletown in Tagoat pitch. Please come to show your support for these young players.

KILMORE AC

Congratula­tions to our junior and senior athletes who competed in Navan Saturday the 28th last in the Leinster Cross Country Championsh­ips (even ages and novice) on fine performanc­es. The athletes did themselves, their club and their county proud today. Well done to Rena Thompson in particular who was a medallist and will now represent Leinster at all-Ireland Cross Country Championsh­ips. We now continue the preparatio­n for day two the uneven and senior championsh­ips in Adamstown.

ARA NEWS

Christmas is approachin­g so the section is organising its Christmas Lunch. This year we are going to the new Coast Hotel in Kilmore Quay on the Wednesday, November 22. Food music and craic are the order of the day.

November 30 will see a trip to see Michael English and Brendan Shine in Whites Hotel at eight o’clock. The bus will leave at 6 p.m. due to the large queues that this concert creates. Contact Séamus regarding details. Tickets are now available.

Bowls: both teams are away to New Ross on Wednesday, November 15. Ten-Pin Bowling in Leisuremax on Mondays at 10.30 a.m.

PERSONAL ALARMS

There has been a drop off in orders for the personal panic button for senior citizens recently, partly due to people getting their landline disconnect­ed due to the cost and that the rent relief has been taken away. However, we would advise people to seriously consider keeping their phone line and get in their panic button which gives people a sense of security in these dark winter nights. SENIORS COFFEE MORNING

Kilmore Scope is going to hold a coffee morning for senior citizens on Friday, December 1, at 10.30 a.m. in the AOH hall. This is an opportunit­y for seniors to come in and have a chat a ‘cuppa’, meet friends and get some informatio­n on what is available in the Bridgetown Informatio­n Centre. So put the date in your diary.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Neil Connolly, The Hill, Kilmore and Leanne Shovlin, Kilcar, Co Donegal, who got married recently in Donegal. Neil is son of Mary and Stephen and Leanne is daughter of Seán and Marian. We wish this couple many happy years of married life together.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

KQ FIVE-YEAR PLAN

A five-year plan for Kilmore Quay and its environs has been commission­ed to strategica­lly direct the further developmen­t of this area so that it can maximise its economic tourism heritage and community potential for the benefit of all. Kilmore Quay Community Developmen­t Associatio­n has secured funding under the EU FLAG programme to carry out this plan.

A public informatio­n meeting will be held on Thursday, November 23, from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay. Come along and have your say and help shape the vision for this five-year plan.
