LOTTO
The St Fintan’s GAA lotto now stands at €6,400 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match-three prize of €200 up for grabs each week. Last week’s numbers were 4, 7, 8 and 13. Many thanks for your continued support.
TABLE QUIZ
There will be a fundraising table quiz held in the Halfway House Ballycogley on Thursday, November 16, at 8.30 p.m. Table of four is €20 and all proceeds will go the Ballycogley hall development fund. Please come along and show your support and give the brain cells a workout.
SCOUTS
Co Orienteering for all sections has been changed to Askamore on November 19 with staggered start times for groups. Kilmore have been allocated 11.30 so everyone needs to be there by 11 a.m. to prepare maps etc. Cost €5 per head. Full details have been given out at meetings.
TOMHAGGARD CENTRE
Stainless Steel Kitchen - Following the installation of a new kitchen in Tomhaggard social centre the original stainless steel one is for sale. Contact Angela 087 2840272 for details and dimensions.
Community Theatre - The workshops have started on Thursdays from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Tomhaggard social centre. Many areas of drama and theatre including acting, directing, stage management, design, lighting, sound, stage makeup and costumes will be covered over the six weeks all done through fun and exercises culminating in a short performance piece in December.
There’s also a Masterclass with Michael Dunbar MA Theatre Studies and well known Actor/ Director. The project in being undertaken by Ballycogley Players with the support of Creative Ireland funding. Open to Secondary school students to senior citizens.
Watercolour Workshop - There is a one-day workshop in Tomhaggard social centre on Saturday, November 25, from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Cost for day e50 which includes all materials, tea or coffee and lunch. Bring home your completed creation at the end of the day. It is being run by Maria Murphy, well known local artist. To book a place or details contact Maria 086 3848364.
SENIORS CHRISTMAS PARTY
This year the Seniors Christmas party will be held in Danby Lodge Hotel on Sunday afternoon, January 7, 2018. Further details later. Tickets will be distributed nearer to Christmas.

Raffle tickets for the parish council Christmas raffle will be on sale in the coming weeks. The proceeds help to fund the party and your support would be greatly appreciated.
ST FINTAN’S AGM.

25-YEAR CELEBRATIONS
St Fintan’s will celebrate the 25th anniversary of winning the Junior B Hurling Championship 1992 with a club get together on Saturday, December 9, in Coopers Inn Killinick at 8 p.m. A video recording of the game will be shown on the night, anyone who may have any photographs of the game for display on the night please contact John Kelly. All past and present players, members and supporters are invited along to join in the night.
CAKE SALE/RAFFLE
The annual cake sale and raffle in aid of the day to day running of the parish will be held in Mayglass church porch on Saturday, November 25, before and after 7.30 p.m. Mass. Donations of confectionary would be very much appreciated, your support is gratefully appreciated.
ST FINTAN’S UNDERAGE
Forth and Bargy Gaels took on last year’s Roinn one under-21 football champions Gusserane in Tagoat during the recent past but sadly lost out on a scoreline of 2-10 to 2-05 in its quest to book a spot in the quarter final of the Greenstar under-21 football premier A championship quarter final.
Having played against the wind in the first half the ‘gaels’ trailed by just two points at the half time break 1-06 to 1-04. Try as they might in the second period the lads scored just twice a goal and a point. Though beaten the new format means they will get a second chance and will play in the last eight of the inaugural Premier B championship.
Things went better for the juvenile football team of St Fintan’s/ Our Lady’s Island when they travelled to St Patrick’s Park to take on a team also from Gusserane in the Roinn one shield and emmerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-11 to 4-04. At the half time whistle a half in which both sides played excellent football the young men from the South east were to the fore 1-08 to 1-01.
The second half saw Gusserane raise their game and the sides were level entering the final quarter, which was played in see saw fashion but the lads held on for a precious victory.
KILLINICK ICA
The guild held its most recent meeting on Monday, November 6, with its president Mary Quirke and 13 fellow members in attendance. The holding of a fundraising cake sale and coffee evening which was planned for Thursday, November 16, in the Danby Lodge the proceeds from which will go to Palliative was discussed.
The federation meeting will be held in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on November 27 at 8 p.m. and the ICA dinner will be held in Kellys Hotel Rosslare on November 24.
The competition winners were first: Mary Quirke, second: Mary Sinnott and the competition for the next meeting is for the nicest Christmas candle. The hostesses for the evening were Kathleen Nolan and Lish McDonnell and Cathy Byrne and Betty Reid will host the December meeting.
ALL BLACKS AFC
The next delegate meeting of Wexford and District schoolboys league will be held in the Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola, New Ross on Thursday, November 23, at 7.45 p.m. Congratulations to Mary O’Connor, who won €354 in the split-the-pot draw no.44 which was held in Brides pub Bridgetown.
RACKARD LEAGUE
The Rackard league girls’ team from Mayglass and Broadway were left heart-broken at the end of the Girls’ Football District Final yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) when they lost on a scoreline of 4-8 to 3-8 to a very good Gaelscoil Charman team. The girls were dealt a major blow before throw-in with the unfortunate absence of ever present Tara Cullen and Aoife Devereux.
The girls were slow to settle at the start and found themselves 2-3 to 0-0 down after 10 minutes. But the girls battled back to score 1-4 without reply with a goal coming from Aoibheann Rankin to go in two points down at half-time. Gaelscoil came out fast and the girls found themselves six points down but another Aoibheann Rankin goal put them back in touch. With time running out Ciara Murphy got the third goal to level the game but it wasn’t to be, as Gaelscoil goaled late in the game to snatch victory.
We had stars all over the pitch from Rebecca Cloney in goal, Caoimhe Carroll and the Wallace sisters Sophie and Ava in defence. Mia Meyler did excellent work around midfield with Ciara Murphy. Aveen Ellard on the wing always looking to give the perfect pass. Aoibheann Rankin was superb at centre forward and finished the game with 2-8. It was a truly fantastic team effort, they never gave up the battle. Well done to all girls, their teachers and mentors throughout the competition.
