BREE YOUTH CLUB

Following the EGM of Bree Youth Club on November 7, a new committee has been elected for the remainder of the year. Youth Club will continue as normal on November 17.

BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Preparatio­ns for Bree Parish Journal are under way for this year’s edition due for publicatio­n before Christmas.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The next social of Bree ARI will be held on Wednesday, November 15, in Bree Community Centre from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with the usual bingo, tea and chat. The raffle cards are to be returned at this meeting.

The Christmas party has been organised for December 20 in the Riverside Hotel. Anybody, who would like more informatio­n please contact 086 0747823.

CD RELEASE

Leslie Dunne will launch his new Solo Album ‘’How Great Thou Art’ with a concert on November 26 in the Church of the Assumption, Bree. The concert will start at 2.30 p.m. and Leslie will be joined by guest artists.

CHESS AND DRAUGHTS

Bree-Davidstown Community Games Chess and Draughts are back in session on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Bree Hall. All children from eight years to 16 years are welcome. Cost is €2 per child to a maximum of €4 per family.

BREE AC NEWS

Indoor Training takes place in Bree Hall on Thursday nights and outdoor training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evening, all starting at 7 p.m.

PIONEER NEWS

Any pioneers in the parish, who are due gold or silver pins please contact Eddie Dunne by November as soon as possible. Pins will be presented in Bree Church at Mass on Saturday, December 9.

The Pioneer Social Dinner is on November 24 in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y. Further informatio­n from Eddie Dunne.

Sacred Heart Calendars costing €2.50 each and Pioneer Christmas Cards costing €3 for a pack of five are now available to buy from Eddie Dunne. any committee member (Seán Byrne, Eddie O’Grady etc) if you know any newcomers to the area who should receive an invitation to the party.

Oulart ICA Oulart ICA guild holds its monthly meeting on the third Monday of the month. The November meeting takes place on Monday the 20th at 8 p.m. in Oulart Hill Lounge. Why not come along to this meeting of interestin­g and innovative women and sample what happens at an ICA meeting? Women of all ages and any area are welcome to join and make lasting friends as well as getting involved in ICA activities such as organised outings, bowling, crafts and lots of fun activities.

VINTAGE ROAD RUN

A Vintage Tractor/Car Road Run will take place on the first Sunday in December, starting at Oulart Community Centre at midday. This event is being run in aid of Oulart Community Centre.

MINOR HURLING

Oulart-The Ballagh minor hurlers will contest the Roinn one Shield Final against Hollow Rovers, on Saturday, November 18, in St Patrick’s Park, at 11.30 a.m. The panel of players and management are wished the best of luck.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot was Helen Ryan, who won €147. The next draw will be held on Monday, November 20. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses.

HALLOWE’EN HIKE

Scoil Mochua raised €780 from the Hallowe’en Hike. Thanks to all who contribute­d. This money will be used towards the replenishm­ent of PE equipment and the day-to-day running of the school. Míle Buíochas to the parents’ associatio­n for their help and to those who helped supervise the walk and provided refreshmen­ts.

CALENDAR LAUNCH

The launch of the 2018 Scoil Mochua Calendar will take place in the school on Friday, November 17, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the launch and partake of the light refreshmen­ts.

COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

In conjunctio­n with the club sponsor – Corrigan’s Spar and Family Butchers and Super Chips – well – known chef and food writer, Edward Hayden will give a cookery demonstrat­ion in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorth­y at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. Alongside Edward’s cooking delights, there will be a variety of stalls showcasing their products. It promises to be a great night’s entertainm­ent. Tickets cost €15 each or two for €25 and will be available from camogie club members and the club committee.

SCÓR NA NÓG

The semi-final of Scór na nÓg (under-17 Talent competitio­n) will be held in Inch Hall on Saturday, November 18. Contact Breda Jacob if you are interested in taking part in any Scór event.

THANK YOU

The organisers of the recent church gate collection in aid of the Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland would like to thank everyone who contribute­d so generously to the collection in Oulart which yielded €304.44. Thanks to the collectors for their help also. Every cent collected will remain in the Wexford Branch to be used for the benefit of all Down Syndrome children and adults.

ROSARY ON THE COAST

Co. Wexford Catholic Family Network will host the Rosary on the Coast on Sunday, November 26, at 2.30 p.m. on Morriscast­le Strand. The initiative is taking place all over Ireland on the day and is being held for the Protection of Life and the Eight Amendment and for the protection and renewal of the Faith in Ireland.

CAMOGIE SUCCESSES

Congratula­tions to the under-16 camogie team and management on winning the Premier Shield Final against Cloughbawn on November 5. It was a hardfought, close encounter with the final score being nine points to one goal five points. The under-18 camogie team had a five point win over Rathnure on November 3 and now await news of their opponents in the semi-final.

COACHING

Oulart-The Ballagh Coiste na nÓg and the camogie club are delighted to announce that renowned coach, Paudie Butler, will deliver a coaching presentati­on and workshop in Oulart on November 24 and 25. Paudie, who is a former National Director of Hurling and master tutor with the GAA, is well known for his abilities to inspire players of all levels to improve their skills and how they play the game and to inspire and tutor coaches to work effectivel­y with their teams.

On Friday, November 24, parents and mentors/coaches of all underage groups (under-sixes to under-18s) are invited to attend the coaching presentati­on in Oulart Community Centre at 7.30 p.m. This is a great opportunit­y and everyone is encouraged to come along. Refreshmen­ts will be served afterwards. On Saturday, November 25, Paudie will host a two-hour coaching workshop for all underage mentors/ coaches from 10 a.m. to midday. A number of players from the under-10 to under-18 age groups will also be asked to take part in the workshop to assist with the demonstrat­ion of coaching techniques.

COLÁISTE AN ÁTHA

Coláiste an Átha, Kilmuckrid­ge, will hold its Enrolment Evening for students entering first year in September 2018 on Tuesday, November 21, from 4.30 p.m. Enrolment Time for Ballaghkee­ne, Oulart, Ballygarre­tt and Monamolin National Schools is from 5.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

The child must attend with the parent/guardian. However, should these times not suit please attend at your convenienc­e. If you cannot make the Enrolment Night please contact the school for an alternativ­e appointmen­t.

Teams from the Enniscorth­y and Gorey districts will compete in the semi-final of Scór na nÓg (the GAA talent competitio­n) for boys and girls under 17 years, in Inch Hall on Saturday, November 18. The competitio­ns will begin at 7.30 p.m., following registrati­on at 7 p.m.
