Mary was a creative lady who always did her best in life

-

MARGARET Tierney passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of November 9, 2017, surrounded by her husband John and her two sons, Sean and Paul.

Margaret (nee Lacey) was born on May 18, 1948, in Hill Street, the fourth of five children born to Michael Lacey, a carpenter, and Anastasia Lacey (nee Bates).

Margaret lived at her family home in Hill Street with siblings, Tricia, Mae, Michael and Pat, with whom she had many happy times with relatives in Kilmore. She spoke fondly of those times in later years.

Margaret went to school at the Mercy Convent, in John’s Road, and after completing her education went to work at Woolworths, in South Main Street, where she was promoted to supervisor and worked for 15 years. She had fond memories of her time at Woolworths, where she made lifelong friends.

Margaret met her husband John at a dance at the Talbot Hotel and they later married in Rowe Street Church. The couple had two boys, Sean and Paul, whom she adored and encouraged to do the best in life.

She loved her grandchildren, Conor and Naoise, and her daughters-in-law Louise and Sally.

Margaret loved going for walks with her friends and her husband John and loved going for a drive on a Sunday and holidaying around Ireland with her family in the summer.

A creative lady and a keen gardener, Margaret was well known for her sewing skills, knitting, curtain making and upholstery.

Margaret become ill in June, 2016. She fought her illness with grace and dignity and was always positive with a great sense of humour.

And she wished to be remembered as someone who had done her best in life - which she always did.

Members of her family, friends and neighbours attended her funeral at Rowe Street Church on November 11, which was followed by burial at Crosstown Cemetery.

May She Rest in Peace.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
