‘They have their own procedures. The first step is to see if there is another State agency CLLR David Hynes was informed that a skateboard park will be among the facilities in the proposed new 18-acre Min Ryan Park in Killeens.

Cllr Hynes called on the council to guarantee that the long-awaited park would be provided as part of the new amenity.

The Independent councillor first raised the possibility of a skateboard park 20 years ago when it ran into insurance difficulties. that could use it. After that, it would become available to the County Council or the HSE to use,’ said Mr Larkin, adding that he expected to hear back from the OPW before Christmas.

Cllr Anthony Kelly had asked if the council had been in contact with the OPW about the availability of the vacant station and suggested it could be used to house the homeless.

‘This was agreed a long time ago and it ran into trouble over insurance and was knocked on the head.

‘I just want to get a firm commitment that it will be provided now. We need to be provising facilities for young people. The new park would be ideal for it’, he said.

The Mayor, Cllr Jim Moore, assured him that it will be part of the plans for Min Ryan Park.
