CLUB DEVELOPMENT

Those of us members of the St Fintan’s GAA Club both male and female are so excited and proud of the newly laid astroturf covering at club grounds Ballymore.

This floodlit astroturf surface will provide an excellent training facility for all our teams during late winter/early Spring and we look forward to bringing you loads of pictures of this wonderful development in use by the men, ladies and underage teams.

The year 2017 has seen huge improvements at the club grounds with Phase one of the Walking Track complete (drainage, light ducting, laying of stone, rolling and dusting) the vibrant pitch side advertising hoarding put in place and the Astro training facility. These developments and groundworks could not have been possible without the trojan effort and commitment put in at the pitch over the past six months by a core group of club members and supporters. Many many hours of voluntary work has been put into these developments and as a club we are truly grateful for that.

Also our pitches, as ever, have been maintained impeccably and we applaud the superb work done by the Grassmaster team throughout 2017. With many more redevelopment plans for 2018 and beyond, your continued valued support of all our fundraising activities is very much appreciated.

All these developments are dependent on successful fundraising which means none of this is possible without the support of the community.

ALL BLACKS AFC

Congratulations to the winner of our Spilt the Pot Draw No 46. Richard Kehoe scooped the winning prize of €334 in Greencres Pub, Tomhaggard on Monday, November 20.

The under-13 team took the long trip to New Ross with just eight players. What can ye say about these bunch of boys as the score line doesn’t reflex how they played. New Ross took the lead after five minutes but there was no dropping of heads and the boys defended for there lives, Eja in goal Ruairi, Thomas and Max at the back all defended stoutly and there was nothing getting past them. JJ, Fionn and Osin in midfield must have covered every blade of grass. Eoin up front worked his socks off and his hold up play was top class. Halftime score was 1-0 and you would never think that there was eight versus 11. The boys battled hard in second half and had their chances but were unlucky. New Ross went 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go and were awarded a penalty but our Man of the Match Eja made a great save. New Ross scored two late goals to take the spoils on a 4-0 scoreline.

The under-14 girls made the long journey to Courtown and came away with a comprehensive 7: one victory. The girls dominated the game from the start to finish and played some lovely football. Aoibheann Rankin scored a very impressive four goals with Melissa Smith, Madison Roche and Abigail Clarke also adding to the scoresheet. Great performance from the entire squad well done to Sophie, Cora, Eimear, Tara, Katelyn, Melissa, Abigail, Kennedy, Katie, Zoe, Aoibheann, Amy, Aoife D, Kayleigh, Madison and Aoife C. €714 – well done Bernie. Draw takes place every Monday night at Murrintown Bingo. Remember you must be in to win.
