SAD PASSING

Deepest sympathy to Josie Hillis and family on the death of Billy Hillis last week. Billy was 88 years of age and is survived by his wife Josie sons John, Billy and Paul daughters Margaret and Cathy his brother Seán and sisters Mary and Kathleen. He reposed in Ryan’s funeral home Wellington­bridge on Tuesday, November 21, from 1 p.m., with removal at 7 p.m. to St Peter’s church Ballymitty. Funeral Mass was on Wednesday the 22nd at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

DANCING

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday the 30th Michael Ellard. Starts from 9.30 all welcome refreshmen­ts served.

CHRISTMAS SALE

The annual Christmas Sale in aid of Balloughto­n Church funds will take place on Saturday, December 2, from 2 p.m. featuring all the usual stalls – raffle, Brid a brac, plants, books etc. A delicious afternoon tea will be served. Your support as always would be greatly appreciate­d.

DEATH

Deepest sympathy to the family of Mick Cooney, who passed away last week. Mick, formerly from Littlegrai­gue lived and worked in Wales most of his life and for the past three years lived with his niece and family Mary Roche. Mick was in his 88th year and will be sadly missed by his family nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

He reposed at Mary and Pat Roche’s residence Coolhull on Monday, November 20, from 11 a.m. Removal was on Tuesday the 21st at 1.30 p.m. to the Church of Mary Immaculate and St Joseph, Carrig-on-Bannow for funeral Mass at 2 p.m., burial afterwards in Shemogues cemetery. May he rest in peace.

ROSARY ON THE COAST

This is a nationwide event that takes place on Sunday, November 26, at 2.30 p.m., at locations around the entire coast of Ireland. Nearby locations are the Little Sea, Cullenstow­n Strand and Blackhall Strand. We will gather to pray the rosary, recite the assigned prayers and sing some hymns. GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €14,000. Tickets are two euro each and can be purchased from the post office Carrig, Seebreeze Laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg, Wellington­bridge, and from any Club Officer down in the complex.

The Ladies’ Football Agm took place on Sunday last check Facebook for more informatio­n.

This Thursday the 30th will see the Coiste na nÓg Agm take place at eight o’clock and on Friday, December 1, the camogie will host theirs also at eight. These are very important meeting’s to attend by players and parents to see what’s in store for the upcoming season.

STATIONARY ENGINE CLUB

The annual general meeting of the South East Stationary Engine Club will be held in Tír na nÓg pub Wellington­bridge on Sunday, December 3, at 7 p.m. by Opehelia, notificati­ons by text for the moment. Ten-Pin Bowling will still take place on Mondays in Leisuremax at 10.30 a.m. The bus for the Michael English Concert will be meeting in Kilmore Church Carpark on Thursday the 30th at 6 p.m. Please not the time as there will be a queue for seating at the venue. Our Christmas Lunch was a great success and the committee thanks those who attended and took part.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Tomhaggard Social Centre are holding a Christmas Fair on Sunday, December 10, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Live Crib, free Children’s entertainm­ent with Mrs Claus Storytime, Letters to Santa, Kids’ disco, cake sale, Stalls, Raffle Refreshmen­ts served. Proceeds in aid of Tomhaggard Defibrilla­tor Fund.

Our club AGM took place last Friday evening in the clubhouse. Thank you to all who attended. The following officers were elected for 2018.

ICA NEWS

Kilmore Quay ICA would like to thank everyone you supported the Afternoon Tea Party and bought raffle tickets in aid of Hospice Home care and SERT Wexford. The total amount raised was €2,235 which was divided equally between both charities.

The raffle winners were first prize Joe Bates second prize William Cloney 3rdprize Monica Corish fourth Marie Anne Bolger.

STELLA MARIS CENTRE

The Stella Maris Centre has just taken delivery of two benches that facilitate wheelchair access. The benches are specially designed to allow a wheelchair to pull into the table. Wexford County Council through its Access Section kindly provided a €1,000 grant towards the cost of the benches, which are now located outside the Stella Maris Centre.

Kilmore Active Retirement Associatio­n is hoping to make a shopping trip to the McDonagh shopping centre and the Yuletide market in Kilkenny on Saturday, December 9. COUNCIL BALLOT

The time has come to elect a new parish council. Fr Kevin would like to thank all the members of the outgoing parish council. Ballot papers are in the back of the church from this weekend. Ballot papers need to be returned by November 26. Please think about people from your area who might be suitable and ask any potential nominees if they are willing to serve on the parish council before you nominate them. Outgoing members are also included.

TREE LIGHTS

The Christmas Tree Lights will be switched on in Duncormick on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m. There will be Carols, music and light refreshmen­ts and Santa will drop by.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL

The annual Christmas church gate collection takes place on December 2 and three in Cleariesto­wn and Rathangan. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

CHURCH DOOR

In an effort to maintain better heat and comfort in the church it has been decided to close the main door for the winter months during Mass times on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. Entry will be through the side door (scar door) and the tower door if necessary. We thank you for your cooperatio­n in this matter.

Local Link Wexford provides a bus service from Rathangan to Wexford at 10.25 a.m. on Wednesdays and 1.10 p.m. on Saturdays. From Cleariesto­wn there is a service at 10.05 a.m. on Fridays to Wexford.
