CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

The club AGM will take place on Saturday, December 2, at 7.30 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. All players and parents of underage players are encouraged to attend.

Penny bank collection­s continue every Saturday and Sunday in the hall after Masses.

TIDY TOWNS

Congratula­tions to Ballymurn tidy towns on receiving an award for the best environmen­t award and best presented village. The award was presented to the committee at the environmen­t awards 2017. Well done to everyone involved, especially St. Joesph’s Terrace Residents Committee for their hard work keeping the entrance to the estate looking so well.

The race was won by Nialls team mate Brian Maher or Kilkenny City Barriers, a regular at the Ferrycarri­g five annual race, finishing second last year behind Olympian Mick Clohessy.

It caps off a great couple of weeks for the club with Jack Forde securing gold in Scotland the previous week. At the winter league held at the Hub in Enniscorth­y recently, Emma McCarthy finished strongly in second place in the 300m under-10 category while Jack Forde came home in first place in the 1000m under-15 event. The final day of competitio­n takes place on December 3. It is great to see the athletes achieve the highest possible accolade for their hard work.

CLUB AGM – St Killian’s AC will hold their annual general meeting in Crossabeg school this evening, Tuesday, November 28, at 8.30 p.m. Senior members and adults are all urged to attend. All suggestion­s and feedback welcome.

STORYTELLI­NG

The next session of storytelli­ng, music and song takes place at Kyle Forge on Sunday, December 3, Proceeding­s get under way at 8 p.m. There will be a raffle and refreshmen­ts are also served.

YOUTH CLUB

Youth Club meeting in the school on Friday night from 8.10 p.m. There will be a disco in Bree hall on Friday, December 8, so please bring €10 for ticket and bus if you would like to go. An important reminder to parents to apply for the Garda Vetting. For those who have returned their forms to FDYS check your emails for the Garda Vetting link as it only stays live for four weeks.

PARISH CONCERT

The parish concert which was held at Ferrycarri­g hotel on November 9 was well attended and enjoyed by all and raised over €1,200 to help with costs for the upkeep of the church. The organising committee would like to thank all who performed on the night, those who donated prizes, all who supported the raffle and made donations, provided sponsorshi­p and helped out in any way. Thanks also to the management and staff of the hotel for all their help.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

A reminder that the annual general meeting of Oylegate camogie club takes place on Saturday, December 2, at 7.30 p.m. in Oylegate community centre. All players and parents of underage players are encouraged to attend.

The club has a limited number of half zips, skirts and training tops available. Contact Margaret O’Connor or Christine Martin for further informatio­n.

PLAYERS NEEDED

Bridge Rivers AFC are looking for boys and girls aged 5 and six to play soccer. They train every Friday evening from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. They are also looking for players for the ladies’ team. They train every Thursday evening from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

VINTAGE ROAD RUN

A Vintage Tractor/Car Road Run will take place on Sunday, December 3, starting at Oulart Community Centre at midday. This event is being run in aid of Oulart Community Centre.

CAKE SALE/CRAFT FAIR

On Sunday, December 3 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Oulart Scouts will hold a Cake Sale in Oulart Community Centre. Donations of home-baking would be greatly appreciate­d. Contact Siobhán at 086 0792160. There will be a variety of stalls including Toys, Christmas Crafts and Decoration, Beauty, cakes and Candles etc. If you would like to have a stall (€15), contact Trisha at 086 3080403. CARDIAC FIRST RESPONSE

A meeting will be held in Oulart Community Centre, on Tuesday, December 5, beginning at 7.30 p.m., with a view to setting up a Cardiac Response Unit. Contact Vickie Dunne (087 7780749) for further informatio­n.

CRAFT TOGETHER

Every Tuesday at 8 p.m., a group of people interested in practising and learning crafts such as knitting, crochet, embroidery etc, meet in Marty’s Bar. All crafts and craft practition­ers are welcome to drop in and join the group.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot was Ms Maria Barron, who won €138. The next draw will be held on Monday, December 4. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses. Thank you for your continued support.

HURLING 365

Hurling coaching/skill-training etc continues every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8.15 a.m. in Oulart Community Centre. Children from Senior Infants to Sixth Class inclusive are welcome to join any time.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Scoil Mochua 2018 Calendar is available to purchase from the school, Corrigan’s Spar and Oulart post office. The calendar would be a lovely Christmas gift and a nice keepsake for years to come. The price is eight euro for one, €15 for two calendars and €20 for three.

SCHOOL CONCERT

Scoil Mochua will present a Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 20. Staff and pupils are busily preparing for this event which will take place two days before the school closes for the Christmas vacation.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will hold its AGM on Friday, January 12. Details will be published later. The Coiste na nÓg endof-year meeting will be held in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 17, starting at 8 p.m. All club members, adult and underage mentors, coaches, parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.

GAA DEVELOPMEN­T DRAW

The results of the November Draw are as follows: Robert Browne (€100), John Ormonde, Wexford Sand (€50) and Noel Doyle (€50). The big Christmas Draw will be held shortly.

CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club has organised an Edward Hayden cookery demonstrat­ion in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorth­y at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. Alongside Edward’s cooking delights, there will be a variety of stalls showcasing their products. It promises to be a great night’s entertainm­ent. Tickets cost €15 each or two for €25 and will be available from camogie club members and the club committee.

UNDER-18 CAMOGIE

Oulart-The Ballagh under-18 camogie team will contest the Premier final against St Martin’s or Shelmalier­s St Ibar’s on Sunday, December 3. Time and venue not yet confirmed.
