Cormac’s battle back

Division 2 leaders St. Cormac’s were held to a draw on Sunday, although given the circumstances they will be relieved to have taken something from the game. Visitors Taghmon United held a 3-0 lead going into the last 20 minutes thanks to goals from Brian Doyle, Anthony Breen and Seamie McLoughlin.

However the saints rallied and two Brian O’Loughlin penalties, either side of a Mark Brady strike, earned them a share of the spoils.

Cloughbawn took full advantage to close within a point of the pacesetters, with Gavin Murphy getting the goal in a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crossabeg.

Dermot Rossiter, Liam Walsh, Diarmuid Roche, Keith Donnelly and Modestas Macenas scored for New Ross Town as they ran out 5-0 victors over Wexford Celtic.

Adamstown were convincing 4-0 winners away to Fastnet Rovers, with Alan Bradley, Tom Shannon, Ian White and Liam Moore hitting the back of the net.

Killenagh Wanderers and Stoney Rovers came away with a point apiece after a 0-0 stalemate.

Enniscorthy United maintained their place at the top of Division 3 and earned the local bragging rights by overcoming Enniscorthy Town 3-0 on Sunday. Billy Millar, Jamie Fox (penalty) and Hasane Smyth got the goals for the league leaders.

Rosslare Port remain just one point adrift in second after a 2-0 away win over Gorey Rangers, with Niall Howlin and Jamie McMahon getting their goals.

Cushinstown closed in on the promotion places with a 1-0 win in Duncannon, with Nicky Sinnott grabbing the winner with 20 minutes remaining.

Jack Dempsey got the goal for Shamrock Rovers as they drew 1-1 with local rivals Ajax Athletic, while Jack Roche and Gordon Simpson were on target for Forth Celtic as they edged out Bunclody 2-1, with Dion Dunne replying.

Raheen picked up a big three points on Sunday, as they overcame leaders Wexford Albion 3-1. Peter Finn (two) and Mark Cowman scored for the winners, with Shane O’Connor replying for Albion.

Second-half substitute John Breen played a starring role for Ballymurn Celtic, coming on and scoring a hat-trick, while Eoghan Kehoe bagged their other goal.

John Donovan got the only goal of the game as Bridge Rovers edged out Oylegate United 1-0.

A.J. Redmond and M.J. Murphy hit the back of the net for Rathnure as they saw off Rosslare Strand 2-0, while Emmet Byrne scored for Rosslare Rangers as they saw off Fethard 1-0.

New Ross Celtic have withdrawn from Division 3A, and teams have been awarded three points for their remaining fixtures.

There’s no stopping Wexford Bohs, and they made it the perfect ten wins from ten on Sunday with a 3-1 win in Curracloe.

Alan Flood, Ciarán Walsh and Chris Downes scored for the Wexford town side.

Corach Ramblers remain one point ahead of them in the table, although they’ve played four games more, thanks to a 4-1 away win over Castledockrell.

Alan Diskin, Joe Sinnott, Mark Hayes and James Crosbie scored for the winners. Ferns lifted themselves off the foot of the table win a 2-1 win over Courtown, with Seán Giltrap and Keith Breen getting their goals.

Elsewhere, James Howlin and Anthony Peare hit the back of the net for Caim United as they drew 2-2 with The Ballagh, with Michael Reddy and Callum O’Reilly replying.

Glynn-Barntown continued their seemingly unstoppable march towards the title with a 7-0 win over Tombrack United on Sunday. Robert Dempsey, Shane Wilde and John Leacy all netted doubles, with Jack Brazzill also scoring in a 7-0 win.

Gorey Celtic moved level with a Cloughbawn in second place, thanks to a 3-1 win over their rivals. Jake Cassidy and Jakub Konkel (two) scored for the north county men, with Stephen Kennedy replying.

Damian Burrows and Paddy Cardiff got the goals for Campile United in their 2-0 win over Wexford Celtic, while Wexford Albion overwhelmed Ballymurn 5-0, thanks to a hat-trick from Colm Heffernan and a Ciarán Carty double. Pa O’Brien grabbed a last-gasp equaliser for St. Joseph’s to earn them a 4-4 draw against Enniscorthy United. O’Brien had earlier hit the net for Joey’s, with Billy Dunne and Cormac Byrne also scoring. Darren Walsh (penalty), Mick Walsh, Kyle Lacey and Joe Millar got the goals for United.

Boolavogue ran out 6-4 winners against Taghmon United, with Fionn Doyle (two), Mark Mac Donahue, Tony Ryan, Jamie Heffernan and Higor Garacez scoring for the winners and Mick O’Grady (two), William Codd and Chris Anglim replying.

St. Leonards moved to the top of Division 5 with a 2-0 win over New Ross Town on Sunday.

Seamie Kehoe and Thomas Cosgrave got the goals for the saints. Mick Barry got the only goal of the game as Rosslare Port won 1-0 in Killenagh, while Bree United chalked up a 5-2 win over Stoney Rovers, with goals from Dean Doyle, Paddy Carley, Seosamh Cash, Keelan Hogan and Noel Roche.

Niall Finn, Tom Fitzgerald and James Gahan scored for St. Cormac’s in their 3-1 win over Camolin, with Paul Carton replying. Conor O’Neill, Ivor Whitty and Declan Davitt got the goals for Cushinstown in their 5-3 loss to Enniscorthy Town, while Joey Sinnott hit the back of the net for Adamstown in their 3-1 defeat to Ferns.
