PONGO

Pongo continues in the Kitchen in Glynn Hall on the first Tuesday of every month at 8 p.m. Come along and enjoy the fun. The annual parish Christmas Bazaar will take place on Sunday, December 17, after 10 a.m. Mass – more details to follow soon. Save the date in your diary.

SPLIT THE POT

Congratula­tions to John Joe Doyle, the lucky winner of last week’s split-the-pot, who pocketed €115. Barntown Parish splitthe-pot continues weekly – watch out for the boxes on shop counters at the following locations; C & D Providers, O’Brien’s Londis Larkin’s Cross, Saucy Butcher Clonard, Killeens Service Station, JJ Byrnes, Joyces Expert, Barntown parish office, Mary Jo’s and the Sailing Cot and of course the church itself. Only €2 to enter. The pot is growing every week.

Bree AC AGM took place in Bree Hall and officers for 2018 are; chairman – William Spratt Murphy. Secretary – Clare Doyle. Treasurer – Una Doyle. The presentati­on of annual awards took place following the AGM; Athlete of the Year – Seán Rowley. John Godkin Award – Abbie Doyle. Bree ICA Award – Oisin Rochford. Peter Byrne Award – Darra Casey. Pat O’Leary Award – Katie Doyle. Tony Greene Award – Gracie Kehoe. Paul Kehoe Award – Aoife Cloke Rochford. Special Merit Awards – Ciara Laffan and Keira Wilson. Well done to all and a big Well done to Lea Bolger, who won a bronze medal in 60m at the Cushinstow­n, Co Meath Open Sports last weekend.

BARNTOWN CHURCH

Friday the 08th is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Masses are at 7 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday.

Sunday, December 17, at 11 a.m. is the Bambinelli Sunday (blessing the Christ Child). Each child will receive a small crib which will be blessed at the Mass. A festive morning at the school will follow the Mass.

Christmas Mass times: 9 p.m. at Christmas Eve and 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Christmas Day.

Glynn-Barntown GAA Club presents – ‘Muck Savage Saturday’ on Saturday, December 30, in Glynn-Barntown GAA pitch.

We wish our minor camogie team the best of luck in their county semi-final v St Ibar’s on Sunday at 11 a.m. in.

Congratula­tions to Cora Doyle, who won the GAA Handball 40X20 Irish Nationals Ladies B Singles in Sligo on Saturday afternoon beating Aoife Tully (Roscommon) in her final.

Glynn-Barntown camogie committee and club extends it’s deepest sympathies to Julie Kearney and family at the passing of her grandmothe­r Ann Ennis recently. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

SCÓR NA NÓG

Our Junior ballad group performed brilliantl­y on Friday night in the county final of Scór na nÓg – unfortunat­ely they didn’t go through to the next stage but the club was delighted to be represente­d so well by them. Well done Aoibhinn, Emma, Cliodhna, Kate and Emmeline and Annette for all her efforts in preparing the girls.

COISTE NA NÓG

Hard luck to our under-15 hurlers defeated by Oulart-The Ballagh in the Martin Storey Tournament on Sunday.

Reminder – fundamenta­l movement 6.15 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. (Junior/Senior Infants and first classes). Tuesday in Barntown Hall/Wednesday in Glynn Hall.

Sunday morning: 11 a.m. to midday second and third classes and midday to 1 p.m. Fourth, fifth and sixth classes.

CLUB GEAR – Glynn-Barntown club gear shop open this Wednesday 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Shorts, skorts, shinguards, socks, half zips, jerseys, crew necks, wet gear and track bottoms in stock in most sizes.

SENIOR GAA

Our Senior AGM was held on Friday, November 24, and all previous officers were returned. We look forward to the new season with great anticipati­on.

Congratula­tions to our under-21 footballer­s who defeated Oylegate-Glenbrien on Saturday afternoon in championsh­ip.

NEW CLUB LOTTO – First draw 2017/18 – Numbers drawn were 2, 17, 20 and 22. No jackpot winner. Three match-three winners – Con Fleming, Johnny McDonald and Tom O’Brien. Next draw in Mary Jo’s on Wednesday, December 13. Jackpot €7.200. Thanks to everyone for support with our club’s biggest annual fundraiser. Well done lotto committee and our many dedicated sellers.

SPORTS CAPITAL GRANT – We are delighted to hear Glynn-Barntown will receive €55,000 in grants from the Sports Capital Fund. Well done to Conor and the developmen­t committee and all involved in making this happen.

LADIES FOOTBALL – The ladies’ football AGM took place on Tuesday evening in the clubhouse.
