MEMORIAL DISCS

Bannow parents’ council are selling Christmas Memorial Discs again this year at a cost of €3 each. Discs can be ordered from Michelle Power at 086 3785780 or from Bredas Corner Shop. If people would like to reuse last year’s Discs they can do so at a cost of €1. Please leave money and disc with Michelle Power or Bredas Corner Shop.

MUSICAL EVENING

A Christmas evening with Rodgers and Hammerstei­n show tunes and Christmas Classics – Presented by the Little Sea Musical Society in associatio­n with KSM Concert Orchestra on December 6 in Fethard and December 7 in Carrig. BALLYMITTY SCHOOL

The parents and friends of Ballymitty NS have a raffle for a range of Christmas hampers various sizes, we would like to ask our parents and community members to support us by purchasing lines at the following venues, Wellington­bridge post office, Foulksmill­s post office, Tír na nÓg, Stafford’s of Tullycanna and Geelan’s Garage Waddingtow­n.

The draw will take place in Ballymitty NS on Friday, December 22.

DANCING

Dancing continues every Thursday night in Tír na nÓg with music this Thursday 7th by Tom Murphy; no dance on Thursday the 14th; Saturday the 16th Christmas dinner dance with music by Southbound, Thursday 21st Christmas party Night with Delta Dawn free admission, no dance on Thursday the 28th and on New Years night we have Jimmy Barnwell and the Ballyculla­ne mummers.

Due to your continued support the building of our new ball ally has started. Happy Christmas and New Year from the Ballymitty hand ball club.

GAA CLUB NOTES

Lotto numbers were 7, 17, 23 and 32. Six match three winning numbers each receiving €35. Next draw will take place on Tuesday, December 12, with a massive jackpot of €14,000 and also €2,000 reserve jackpot.

The following were elected after a successful ladies’ football AGM on Sunday last. Chair. Suzannah Murphy, secretary Mary Cosgrave, assist Adi Roche O’Leary, treasurer Pam McCormack, Pro Elaine Bennett, Registrar Suzanne Scott and Children’s liason Officer Pam Fitzharris. Well done to everyone on their new positions.

Well done to all acts from the parish, who took part in the Slainte talent show in Ramsgrange over the last few weeks and made it to the Finals Darren Cadogen, Aimee Fleming Group, Bua and the winner Adi Roche O’Leary. What great talent we have in our parish.

DEATH

Deepest sympathy to the Hillis Family on the death of Seán Hillis, Ballingly, Wellington­bridge last Tuesday 10 days after his brother Billy. A sad time for his two sisters Mary and Kathleen. He will be Sadly missed by his loving family, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposed in Ryan’s Funeral Home, Wellington­bridge on Thursday, November 30, from 1 p.m., with removal at 7 p.m. to St Peter’s Church, Ballymitty. Funeral Mass was on Friday, December 1, at 11 a.m., burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

May he rest in peace.

COMMUNITY ALERT AGM

The AGM of the local community alert group was held in Ballymitty last week. The outgoing committee were re-elected chairperso­n Nicola Howlin secretary Eleanor Cunningham and treasurer Wendy Staunton.

The guest speaker on the night was Sergeant Brendan Moore, who spoke about crime and the importance of security and securing your home, good locks, well lit up outside and cameras.

Garda Buggy then spoke and answered any questions. A large crowd attended and it was decided that no money would be collected for 2018 text alert as we have enough funds for next year.

We have some outstandin­g payment due for 2016/2017. If u haven’t paid please leave into Nicola or any committee member. Thanks to Ballymitty for supplying a lovely tea. shopping trip to the McDonagh shopping centre and the Yuletide market in Kilkenny on Saturday, December 9. Coach will leave Kilmore church car park at 9 a.m. We still have a couple of seats available, to book call 087 2901251.

PARISH JOURNAL

The Editor and Committee of Kilmore Parish Journal invite you to the launch of the 46th. Edition of Kilmore Parish Journal in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay on Friday Dec. 8, 2017 at 8.00 pm. The Journal will be launched by Cat Hogan, successful novelist and writer from Kilmore Parish. Recently Cat Hogan was nominated for an award at the Irish Book Awards. We look forward to welcoming her to the launch.

CAMOGIE NEWS

Kilross Gaels played Castletown last Saturday in their shield semi final. The team battled hard but it was not meant to be. The team can be very proud of the performanc­e they gave. Well done to all players and mentors for their commitment this season. The future looks very bright for Kilross Gaels.

Our 2017 season is now over. Thank you to all players and mentors, officers and committee members for all their time and effort this season. We have some great memories of 2017, our first U12 title and competing in Feile to name put a few. It is now time for a well deserved break and we look forward to 2018!
