AUDITIONS for the much-anticipated 2018 Wexford Has Talent competition are to take place from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, at Clayton Whites Hotel, in Wexford town.

Wexford Has Talent has taken place in Wexford town annually since 2015 and is sponsored by The Wexford People. The event has grown to become recognised as ‘the’ talent competition in the county launching and awarding top talents, among them the band ‘Fit for Kings’, gymnast Tara Doyle Robinson and the ‘Seventh Fret’ musical group.

During the auditions, a panel of judges will help performers through the audition stages. The competition is open to all ages and all manner of talents and is free to enter with the winner walking away with a €2,000 prize. Two additional prizes of €500 will be awarded to the runners-up.

Over the last three years, 500 Wexford Has Talent auditions have been hosted; 144 live performances have been showcased at the live Wexford Has Talent events with audience members totalling 4,800 people enjoying live performances.

Organisers say this year is going to be the biggest yet as the competition is already attracting huge attention and requests to audition. Two semi-finals will take place following the auditions; these will be on Saturday, January 20 and Saturday, January 27, and the Grand Final will take place on Saturday, February 24. All shows will take place in Clayton Whites Hotel. Chair of the organising committee Killian Duignan said ‘Wexford has Talent holds a steadfast reputation for seeking out, celebrating and rewarding top class acts and talent in Wexford year after year. ‘It is a fantastic opportunity for those seeking a new platform for their talent and to reach new audiences - we look forward to welcoming lots of entrants, old and new, at the free audition day on January 14.’ Audition appointments can be booked in advance via www.wexfordhastalent.com or competitors can also turn up on the day to queue for an audition time.
