Students turn back time with Peter’s clock tower replicas

-

THE St Peter’s College Transition Year Enterprise Project prompted one team of students to turn back time.

Their unique project was to craft, manufacture and sell replicas of the iconic St Peter’s 1832 Clock Tower, which dominates the Wexford skyline.

The team called ‘SPC Clock Towers 4U’ decided that, where possible, the replica should be locally made and handcrafted by the students themselves.

Support from local manufacturers, Gabbett Industries and Crosby Brothers made this possible and along with a lot of dedicated time from the students.

The product eventually evolved into a handcrafted 34cm high steel tower mounted on a stylish wooden base.

The final, high quality is enhanced by an unique vintage paint on the tower, which includes a German-made quartz clock.

After recently launching the product within the college, the Bank of Ireland offered the team an opportunity to display it at their recent Christmas Enterprise fair.

At the fair, the team had a bonus when the Guest of Honour, Brent Pope, Legend All-Blacks’ rugby player attended the stand and complemented the students on their achievements.

The limited offer clock, available for €30 on a first come, first served basis, can be seen on Facebook ‘SPC Clock Towers 4U’.
