-

WATERS Technologies in Wexford brought science to life for Presentation School students who were invited to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes in the company.

The visit by a class from 1st Year was organised by Junior Achievement Ireland as part of National Science Week and started with an introduction to what happens in Waters Technologies followed by three workshops on the application of science in a number of different careers including sport, aeronautical engineering and forensics.

The students were given a guided tour of Waters Technologies and learned how the company uses science to test the composition of different commodities including food and medication and also heard about the different career options available in a STEM company such was Waters.

At the end of the day they were presented with certificates in recognition of the energy and enthusiasm that they brought to the workshops.

Tina Martin, HR Manager at Waters Technologies said the company values its partnership with Junior Achievement.

‘As a scientific company we recognise the importance of education and exposing the next generation of workers to the fantastic opportunities that exist in our organisation and the science arena in general’.

Junior Achievement teaches young people about the world of work by bringing business volunteers from local companies into the classroom to run enterprise programmes.
