Sincere sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of former Oulart-The Ballagh hurling stalwart Tommy Rourke, who went to his eternal reward last week and was buried in Oulart Cemetery on Friday, December 8. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions and best wishes to Sharon Kehoe (daughter of Bernie and MJ, The Ballagh) and Offaly native Johnny Wynne (son of Dinny and Bernie) who were married in the Church of St John the Baptist, The Ballagh on Thursday, December 7. The reception was held in the Ashdown Park Hotel and was attended by a huge number of family members, friends and neighbours. The Bride and Groom are both serving members of An Garda Síochána. Sharon is a talented and versatile member of Oulart-The Ballagh camogie team, currently playing in goal and previously starring both in defence and attack while Johnny’s family have a deep involvemen­t in Offaly football with his dad winning an all-Ireland Senior medal in 1982 as substitute goal-keeper.

CHRISTMAS CHOIR

Choir Practice for Christmas Eve Mass, will take place on Monday (7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.) and each Monday thereafter till Christmas. It is hoped that all the regular choir members as well as some newcomers come to the practice. Children from Third Class and upwards are welcome to join the choir.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will hold its AGM on Friday, January 12. Details will be published later. The Coiste na nÓg end-ofyear meeting will be held in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 17, starting at 8 p.m. All club members, adult and underage mentors, coaches, parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.
