New chapter for legal practice

-

WEXFORD solicitors’ practice Kirwan & Kirwan one of the oldest in the country - has entered a new chapter in its history after Wexford solicitors Tim Cummings and Eleanor O’Farrell have taken over from Peter Kirwan, in partnership.

Kirwan & Kirwan Solicitors’ practice was founded in 1864 by the O’Flaherty family who ran it for three generations.

Formerly based in Rowe Street in Wexford, it was taken over by Laurence Kirwan whose son Thomas J took over the reins followed by Peter Kirwan. It is today located in Cornmarket.

Eleanor started in the practice in 1978 and has worked in every department over the years including in office accounts, probate law and litigation, while Tim started in 1997.

Tim, who is a well-known solicitor at Wexford courthouse, qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and Eleanor qualified in 2009. They are joined by Orlagh Weafer from Barntown, who has taken over Mr Kirwan’s conveyancing portfolio. Legal executive in litigation Lisa Cloney completes the Wexford legal team, which is ably assisted by eight support staff.

Tim, from Crosstown and Eleanor from Wexford, plan to bring the practice into modern times. To this end they are launching a new wesbite in January.

Tim said: ‘We are honoured to be able to carry on the legal tradition in Kirwan & Kirwan. We plan to embrace everything that new technology has to offer. We will have a facility where clients can upload legal documents which will be able to be viewed by our team. These include summonses.’

The landmark practice taken over by Tim and Eleanor now enters a new era offering the traditional Kirwan & Kirwan services and more.
