‘Uncle Wexford’ wins

A bitter cold night again greeted patrons last Friday night yet a good crowd braved the cold.

Two finals featured on the race card and they both looked like tricky looking races beforehand however as it turned out there was two very clear cut winners of both .

The €2,400 Speedrite Open Unraced final saw trap one runner ‘Uncle Wexford’ break well and his early gears proved decisive as he motored around the first corner and was always in total control as he raced to a very impressive 28.71 win from ‘Chanceme Jay’ by three and a half lengths and both look nice prospects for the future.

The Henry Kelly A4 (575) final saw another quick starting winner as trap five runner ‘Likeable Light’ who took control quickly to lead and although challenged strongly between the third and fourth corners by ‘Stripe Jacko’. Likeable stayed on strongly to score by three lengths in a time of 31.87.

This Friday night is party night at the track and a very good night can be had and it’s a good way to bring the curtain down on another successful year at the track ,so get to Enniscorthy this Friday night. Results:

Race 4 - The Rathdrum National School A5 525 - 1st: Tyford Dream (owner: Noel O’Gorman, Taghmon, Co. Wexford) 29.90; 2nd: Cotty Style 29.67.

Race 5 - The Henry Kelly A4 575 Stake Final - 1st: Likeable Light (owner: John Brady, Co. Wicklow, trainer: John A Hand, Co. Wicklow) 32.17; 2nd: Stripe Jacko 32.08.

Race 6 - The Speedrite Open Unraced 525 Stake Final - 1st: Uncle Wexford (owner: James Robinson, Co Kildare 29.01; 2nd: Chanceme Jay 28.95.
