CONCERT

Valda Chamber Choir together with Piercestow­n Children’s Church Choir and friends will have a concert in Piercestow­n Church on Wednesday, December 20, at 8 p.m. Tickets at €5 and will be on sale in the shop in Piercestow­n and on the door on the night. All proceeds to the local St Vincent de Paul.

GAA CLUB DINNER DANCE

The St Martin’s club dinner dance and presentati­on night will take place on Friday, January 12, in the Talbot hotel, with reception at 7 p.m., dinner at 8 p.m., and music by Point Blank and disco. After a very successful year St Martin’s Club have put together a Calender for 2018 with action pictures from the various Count Finals in 2017. A Christmas Service for the school will take place at 11.30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, in the church.

LOURDES SOUVENIR DVD

For anyone who travelled to Lourdes this year, The Lourdes 2017 Souvenir DVD would make a perfect gift. Copies of the DVD are now available in Billy Doyle’s Shoe Shop, Enniscorth­y and Wexford and in Ferns parish office or phone 087 2646410. The cost of a DVD is €20 and once again all proceeds will go towards the Lourdes Invalid Fund.

ENVIRONMEN­T GROUP

Rosslare Hbr/ Kilrane Environmen­t Group would like to thank all those who contribute­d to the fund raising raffle and Christmas card sale that took place recently. The prizewinne­rs were Pauline Cafferkey, Tony McCormack, Irene Elgee, David Laheen, Tom Gaul, Shirley Ennis, Jimmy Breen, Aoife O’Neill, Mairead Carr, John Morris, Maureen Barry, John Hill, Barry Brohan, Betty Rea, Joanne Wickham and Mandy Quirke. Our thanks also goes to Des and Alan Murphy of Supervalu for the use of their premises and all the businesses and individual­s who made donations and provided spot prizes for our various fundraisin­g events during the year.

Christmas cards continue to be available at from various outlets including Topaz Garage, Teresa’s Shop, Supervalu, Vera Fox or a committee member.

The Group would like to thank the Community for your support during the year. We would also like to thank our Solas, TUS workers and all our volunteers for all their hard work during a very productive year.

Reminder: A WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) cage only for small Household electrical goods and a container for the recycling of fluorescen­t tubes is situated at the back of the Railway Social Club. It is open on Saturday Mornings between 10.00 and 11.30am, weather permitting.

SANTA paid us a visit and the children were so happy to see him in his lovely grotto. We would like to thank our stall holders; we hope you had a good morning. All money raised on the day will go towards the Music Programme in our school. Happy Christmas to all who supported us during the year, we hope you will continue to support us in 2018.

LIGHT FOR A LIFE

This is the time of year we would all like to remember our loved ones who have passed on. If you would like your loved one remembered on the Village Christmas Tree in Rosslare car park you can do so by donating €3 and a light will be remembered in their name. Fr James will also say a prayer for them at Christmas Mass. There is a donation box and book placed in all the shops and in Rosslare Community and Sports Centre.

The befriendin­g group offers companions­hip to older people through weekly visits and telephone calls. Volunteers are trained by ‘alone’ volunteers are Garda vetted and reference checked we compliment other services such as home help, homecare etc., but do not replace them self-referrals and profession­al referrals are welcome. Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas party, great fun was had by all.

TIDY TOWNS

CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM

Arrive early as Swim starts at midday at the lifeguards tower. Please support the bucket collection as all proceeds go towards St Mary’s Day Care Centre. The warm Soup and Mulled Wine is a must try while watching the Swim. Sponsorshi­p Cards are available from Rosslare Community and Sports Centre.
