LOURDES SOUVENIR DVD

For anyone who travelled to Lourdes this year, The Lourdes 2017 Souvenir DVD would make a perfect gift. The DVD comprises a wonderful record of video and photograph­s of this year’s pilgrimage and includes unique footage of Lourdes itself and its many aspects. Captured in the DVDs are the spiritual, joyful and serene aspects of the pilgrimage, and some of the work that goes on behind the scenes.

The 49th annual pilgrimage was lead by Bishop Denis Brennan and evident on the DVD is the.

Copies of the DVD are now available in Myles Doyle’s Store, Main Street, Gorey and in Billy Doyle’s Shoe Shop, Enniscorth­y and Wexford and in Ferns parish office or phone 087 2646410. The cost of a DVD is €20 and once again all proceeds will go towards the Lourdes Invalid Fund. Triona Eviston, Rita Bernie and Margaret Kinsella.

A small number of Christmas bakes are still available to purchase and can be obtained by contacting Annis directly at 087 2426146.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Over one-hundred-and-ten guests and committee members attended Crossabeg senior citizens’ Christmas party in Ferrycarri­g Hotel last Sunday evening and a most enjoyable evening was had by all. During the meal guests were entertaine­d by members of Crossabeg School choir under the watchful eye of Principal Eamonn Codd and performed a selection of well known and seasonal songs. Many thanks to all who gave up their time on a Sunday evening. It was greatly enjoyed by all. The honour of cutting the cake this year went to Mairead Dixon and Gillian Hearn. Sincere thanks to all the hotel staff who provided excellent service as usual.

CONDOLENCE­S

We offer our sincere sympathies to Aileen Soady and family members on the death of her husband Albert Soady, Kyle Upper, who died at Wexford General Hospital on Saturday, December 2, and whose body was cremated on Wednesday, December 6.

Also to Pauline Finnerty and family, Monmore on the death of her father Gerard P Wynne, who died December 5 and whose funeral took place to Kilcoman cemetery following funeral Mass in St Brendan’s Church, Birr, Co. Offaly on Friday, December 8.

Also to Dolores Sheil and family, Kereight, on the death of her mother Peggy Power, Kennedy Park, Wexford, who died on Thursday, December 14, and who was buried in Crosstown cemetery following 12 o’clock funeral Mass in Clonard Church last Saturday.

Also to the family, relations and friends of Bridie Bauress (née Carroll of Slaney Lodge, Crossabeg) who died in Dublin last Thursday, December 14. Bridie’s funeral Mass was celebrated at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption, Booterstow­n, Dublin yesterday (Monday) followed by burial in Dean’s Grange cemetery. May they all rest in Peace.

Crossabeg NS school children will perform their Christmas Nativity play in Crossabeg Parish Church this Tuesday evening, December 19, at 7 p.m. All are invited to come along and support the children many of whom will be performing in public for the first time.

FERRYCARRI­G 5 ROAD RACE

St Killian’s AC will host the sixth running of the Ferrycarri­g 5 mile road race on Sunday, January 7, with the event getting under way at 12 o’clock noon from the Wexford FC complex at Newcastle, Crossabeg where the race starts and finishes as per other years. YOUTH CLUB

There will be no Youth Club activities this coming Friday evening (December 22). Christmas holidays untilJanua­ry 12. On behalf of Crossabeg Youth Club the committee wishes to thank Mr. Codd and the Staff of Crossabeg N.S. for the continued use of the school premises for Youth Club activities, the Parents whohelp with supervisio­n on Friday evenings, without whom there would be no club and finally we wish all ahappy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

A Christmas concert will be held tomorrow – Wednesday, December 20, at 1 p.m. All are welcome to come along to the school hall and get in the festive mood.

There will be two Christmas raffles this year. The main raffle (for adults) will be held after the Christmas concert and thechildre­n’ raffle will be held on Thursday. CHRISTMAS COFFEE DAY

The Porter House in Castlebrid­ge will hold their annual Christmas Coffee Day in aid of the Castlebrid­ge Day Care Centre tomorrow, Wednesday, December 20, ffrom 11 a.m. till 7 p.m. Why not drop in and join the staff on the day for chat while enjoying all the usual treats, mince pies, cakes, buns, tarts plus a cup of tea or coffee. There will also be a raffle with some fantastic prizes. The tickets cost €2 each or three for €5 Later on that night they will hold their Christmas Bingo session. A real night’s entertainm­ent with all the usual prizes. Live music on the night with John Kenny and Pam Rossiter.
