Bridge to stage comedy caper

-

CASTLEBRIDGE BASED group Bridge Drama will take to the stage this weekend with their production of Michael Cooney’s hilarious farce ‘Cash on Delivery’ which is the group’s 2018 All Ireland Festival Circuit play.

The group has enjoyed success with farce and comedy in the past and hopes that this offering will have the audience rolling in the aisles. In 2013, the group performed ‘Out of Order’ by Ray Cooney - father of the writer of this year’s play - and they hope to emulate the success of that production.

‘Cash on Delivery’ is set in London in the 1990s and is directed by Trish Doyle.

Unbeknown to his loving wife Linda (Mairéad Ryan), Eric Swan (Brian Sheridan) has been successfully defrauding the Department of Social Security for the past two years by claiming social benefit for numerous fictitious lodgers. However, following an unexpected visit from DSS Inspector Jenkins (Adrian Power), Eric tries desperately to extricate himself from his web of deceit and he blackmails his hapless lodger Norman (Ken Murphy) into helping him!

Aided by Eric’s Uncle George (Myles Sunderland), they frantically attempt to cover up Eric’s lies only to succeed in digging themselves further into an ever-deepening hole as the untruths continue to multiply!

Bridge Drama will present ‘Cash on Delivery’ in the National Opera House on January 25, 26 and 27, and again on February 16, 17 and 23 and 24. Tickets are available from www.nationaloperahouse.ie or phone (053) 91 22144.
