1 PUSS IN BOOTS: The classic story of the mighty Puss In Boots is taking place in Campile Hall, beginning on Thursday, January 25, running for four consecutiv­e nights. Pat Baron plays the Dame on the hunt for a new pair of shoes at the local shoe shop owned by Pant and Spec. The principle male is on the search for true love with the Princess Sancha but needs help from his cat, Puss In Boots (Jean Hanrahan). Puss, however, can only speak thanks to the help of the magical fairy (Susan Kent). The fairy is also very busy trying to keep Lady Latreena (Majella Cummins) from thwarting their plans. Puss will take Colin on a journey where he will have to defeat the ogre (James Molloy) in order to achieve his dreams. Also we have our ‘feminine’ King (James Teague) and ‘cougar’ Queen (Helen Hart) accompanie­d by their loyal Hearld (Martin Shalloe). The Thursday, Friday and Saturday night shows are at 8 p.m. and the Sunday night show commences at 7 p.m. Adult tickets cost €12 and children go for €6. To book your tickets contact 087 2183300.

2 BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Excitement is building in Ferns as the Ferns Dramatic Society get set to stage their colourful production of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast. Featuring a wonderful cast, colourful costumes and funny and heart-warming moments in equal measure, the play looks set to be a real hit with both young and old. The show will run over three nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, January 25, 26 and 27 and tickets are already selling fast. 4 CASH ON DELIVERY: Bridge Drama Group will return to the world of farce for this year’s Amateur Drama Circuit with ‘Cash On Delivery’ by Michael Cooney. The play follows the fortunes of Eric Swan who, unknown to his wife Linda, has been defrauding the Department of Social Security for two years by claiming for fictitiona­l lodgers. But an unexpected visit from inspector Jenkins sees Eric desperatel­y trying to extricate himself from his web of deceit – with hilarious results. The play runs at the Jerome Hynes Theatre from January 25 to 27 at 8 p.m.

3 BALLYOUGHT­ER DRAMA GROUP: The drama group present ‘Nobody’s Talking to Me’ which is sure to be a sell-out. The two-act comedy, with a cast of eight and directed by Jimmy Kavanagh, will take place on Friday, January 26, Saturday, January 27, Friday, February 2, and Saturday, Friday 3, at 8 p.m. in Camolin Hall. 5 TINTERN TRAILS RUN: The Tintern Abbey Trail Run takes place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 28, at Tintern Abbey. There are two walks/runs to choose from - a 5km and a 8km. Both runs capture the best of the stunning trails that surround Tintern Abbey. The event caters for all levels of fitness, from elite runner to casual walker. Registrati­on can be completed by logging onto the Tintern Run Facebook page or log onto www.active.com. You can also register on the day from 10 a.m. The race commences at 11 a.m sharp. The entry fee is €10 for all persons over 16 years of age and €5 for U16’s. A family rate is available of €25.

6 CAROLE NELSON TRIO: The trio will perform at Wexford Arts Centre on Saturday, January 27, at 8.30 p.m. Carole is one of Ireland’s most regarded jazz pianists and composers. Her trio’s debut CD, One Day in Winter, was inspired by the South County Carlow landscape where she lives. It traces the arc of one winter’s day from before dawn to moonrise over the Blackstair­s Mountain. Supported by Cormac O’Brien on bass and Dominic Mullan on drums, Carole’s music is a journey through a human landscape as much as a physical one – meditation, wonder, playfulnes­s, contemplat­ion of ageing and death.

7 RADIANT ARCADIA: Radiant Arcadia, an internatio­nal all-female band based in Denmark will be performing at Wexford Arts Centre in the Cornmarket on Friday, January 26. The colours of the diversity, individual­ism yet togetherne­ss is what makes them so special to listen to. Delve into the traditions of Danish folk, Jewish music, Arabic waves, Sufi Qwaali rendition of the famous ‘Allah Hoo’, a Bulgarian chant and much more to stir the spirit towards friendship and togetherne­ss for world music lovers. Performanc­e starts at 8.30 p.m. Tickets for what promises to be a show with a difference are €13/€15.
