Congratula­tions to Bree Macra Capers team who qualified for the all-Ireland Final on Saturday, February 3, in Mallow, Co Cork. Their scene on Pieta House ‘Darkness into Light’ won best act of the night and Sinéad Doyle won best producer at the National Semifinals in Mountmelli­cklast recently. Best wishes next weekend to the Bree Macra Debating team taking part in the all-Ireland quarter-final.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Best wishes to the four teams competing in the Community Games County Draughts final taking place on Saturday next, January 27, in Bree Community Centre. Best of luck also to the two chess teams competing in the County Final on Thursday, February 1.

Anyone interested in handball, boys under-10 Indoor Soccer, art, Modelling, Handwritin­g, quiz, Gymnastics or under-11 Mini Rugby should contact area secretary at 087 4151350 as closing dates are due shortly.

SCHOOL ENROLMENTS

SN Seosamh Naofa, Bree are now accepting enrolments for September 2018. Enrolment packs can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 9247725) for a pack to be posted out. Please return the completed enrolment forms by January 31. The school is also seeking informatio­n for potential enrolments for future years. Please contact the school office to let us know.

BREE AC TRAINING

The first event for the Indoor Season is on Saturday, February 10, with day one of the Leinster Juvenile Championsh­ips taking place in Athlone IT Closing date is Monday, January 29. SMART FITNESS

Smart Fitness continues each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. and on Friday morning s at 10.45 a.m. in Galbally Hall. There is a beginners session ‘Get Fit Swinging’ on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.

This is suitable for total beginners and those with a basic fitness level. They have a seven-week weightloss challenge running at the moment. A new Saturday morning Bootcamp takes place at 10.30 a.m. for one hour training and a cuppa or a healthy shake afterwards.

BREE PARISH JOURNAL

Bree Parish Journal No 18 is now on sale. The journal covers many of the events and activities in the area over the past two years as well as a number of items of historical interest. The cost of the journal is €8 and it is available in Byrnes Bree, Keeleys Ballybrenn­an, Londis Tomnalosse­t, Mace Killurin, Kavanaghs and Greenes Clonroche, Freeman’s Oylegate and also in the Bookshops in Enniscorth­y and Wexford.
