YOUTH CLUB

Crossabeg Youth club meeting this Friday and next Friday in the school from 8.10 p.m. Sports tournament on Sunday, January 28, The FDYS disco takes place on Friday, February 2.

VINTAGE CLUB

The Over the Water Vintage Club annual general meeting will take place in Ballymurn hall on Wednesday, January 24, at 8.30 p.m. All existing club members and those wishing to join the club is invited to attend.

BETWEEN THE BELLS

The ever popular Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies’ Football clubs ‘Between the Bells’ is now under way and continues at the community field in Garrywilli­am every Tuesay evening at 7 p.m. and will continue till February 20 You can join in at any time. The cost is €10 upfront or €2 pay-asyou-go; €25 upfront family payment or €5 pay-as-you-go; €1 per child pay-as-you-go. Optional weigh in.

There is also a competitio­n as follows: Three groups competing based on attendance. Players get two points for participat­ing and one point for non-players. All participan­ts represent one of the following: Senior; under-16 + under-18; under-14 and all younger groups. Prize of €150, decided upon by members and managers.

RECENT DEATHS

Our sympathies this week go to the following parishione­rs who have all suffered recent bereavemen­ts; to Marie Carley and family, The Deeps on the death of her brother Derry Gaynor, Ballyhine, Barntown, who died on Thursday, January 11, and whose funeral took place to Barntown cemetery following Requiem Mass at 2.30 p.m. in Barntown church on Saturday, January 13;

to the extended McDonald family, Lonsdale, on the death of Oliver Ryan, Caim, whose funeral Mass took place at 11 a.m. in Caim church on Saturday, January 13, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery;

to Michael Whelan and family, Crory on the death of his sister Anna Power, Wexford Street, New Ross, whose funeral took place to St Stephen’s cemetery, New Ross last Thursday, January 18, and to the extended Kehoe family of Crory, on the death of Robin Jordan, who was buried in Shillelagh following 11 a.m Mass on Friday last, January 19. Mass on Saturday evening at 7 p.m and on Sunday morning at 11.15 a.m. Monday evening Mass at 7.30 p.m. Adoration on Monday from 1 p.m to 7.20 p.m and again from eight – 9 p.m. Confession­s every Saturday evening from 6 p.m.

ST KILLIAN’S AC

Congratula­tions to St Killian’s juvenile athlete, Jack Forde (15 years old) son of John and Anne-Marie, Garryclear­y, on his selection as the 2017 National Athletics Ireland Juvenile Star for Co. Wexford. This caps a marvellous year in athletics for Jack, who will travel to the National Awards night in Tullamore on February 17 to receive his award.

SEANA GHAEL AWARD

Congratula­tions to Paddy Berney, formerly Saundersco­urt, Crossabeg and representi­ng Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club, who received his award at the recent Coiste na Seana Ghael awards presentati­on night. Well done, Paddy.
