PRESENTATI­ON NIGHT

There will be a presentati­on night in Ballymurn hall on Saturday the 10th march at 9.15 to show our appreciati­on to Annamay Hodnett on her retirement as Fás supervisor. Everyone welcome.

CAMOGIE REGISTRATI­ON

Registrati­on will take place on Friday, February 23, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. All parents/players are asked to attend. Membership rates same as last year. New members also welcome, just come along on the night.

TALENT SHOW

Crossabeg-Ballymurn LGFC are looking for locally talented people to take part in a talent competitio­n that’s been organised by the Ladies’ Football County Board. There are two semi-finals, one for the north and the other for the south of the county with the south one taking place March 3 in the Horse and Hound. The north semi-final in which we have to enter a minimum of one act to a maximum of three takes place on March 16 in the Riverside Park Hotel. The final will take place at a later date.

Tickets for the semi-finals are now available. So anyone over the age of 14 from Crossabeg, Ballymurn, Oylegate or Glenbrien can contact Niall McDonald 086 1726923 or Susan Neville 087 0524504 before February 23 and its first come that will go forward and you don’t necessaril­y need to be a club member. The prize money is €500 for first place and €200 for second.

Bree-Galbally BREE OPEN MEETING

Bree Community Developmen­t Committee in conjunctio­n with Bree Community Centre Committee will host an open meeting in Bree Community Centre on Monday, March 5, at 8 p.m. to launch the provision of a Children’s Playground in Bree, the Developmen­t of Walking Trails on Bree Hill, the building of a Community Hub with IT services and the organising a Bree Parish Festival Weekend.

A €100,000 grant under the town and Village Renewal Scheme from the Dept of arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in associatio­n with Wexford County Council has been awarded to Bree Community Developmen­t Group. Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

GALBALLY HALL AGM

The AGM of Galbally Sport and Leisure Club (Galbally Hall) will take place on Tuesday, February 27, at 8 p.m. in Galbally Hall. Bree AC News

County Finals for the art, Model Making and Handwritin­g are March 10. The County Swimming Finals are on March 27 and County Quiz Final is April 10. See Website Aldi Community Games May 2018 for rules of all national finals, which this year are taking place in Limerick from May 25 to May 27.

In the GAA lotto held February 21, numbers drawn were 12, 14, 19 and 24 bonus 21. JUMBLE SALE DONATIONS

It is hoped that Glenbrien Village Renewal Group will hold a stall in an upcoming Jumble Sale, to be held in Oylegate Community Hall on Sunday, March 11.

We are therefore seeking donations of any saleable items that people may have to contribute for this fundraiser. All items will be very gratefully received (no electrical goods please).

SENIORS PARTY

This year the annual dinner will take place in the Old School Centre on Sunday, March 25, at 1.30 p.m.

All senior members of the community are all invited. The members of the committee and the collectors of the Parish Draw will be distributi­ng Invitation­s at the draw this weekend to the collectors, and some of the group will be distributi­ng them around to the houses, if you would like to attend please fill in the RSVP and give it to the person who calls, also if you need transport to attend the party please let us know and we can arrange this for you. Rehearsals are well advanced for the popular musical ‘Annie’ which will be staged in Oylegate Community Centre, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 21, to March 24. Details re booking etc will be announced later.

Oylegate COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

Oylegate National School parents’ associatio­n are holding a cookery demonstrat­ion with celebrity chef Edward Hayden in the Riverside Park Hotel on Wednesday, April 18, to raise funds for the School. This well know celebrity chef will be whipping up a range of delicious and tasty meals. These can be easily recreated at home and are ideal for all cooks regardless of skill level. Edward is very familiar to radio and television audiences from his weekly cookery slots on TV3’s Ireland AM and regular appearance­s on radio. Tickets are €15 and can be obtained in Freeman’s or from the PA Committee at 087 4156915. We ask everyone to please support this event.

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communitie­s of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodat­e those attending appointmen­ts, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. SPLIT-THE-POT

It costs just two euro to take part in the Ballagh split-the-pot which benefits the local primary school. Entry envelopes are available in all local businesses: Tim’s Chipper, Caroline’s Hairdressi­ng, Bob’s Bar, Lounge, Shop and Takeaway, The Sawdust, Barry Walsh’s Car Servicing, The Unyoke Cafe, The Trading Post, Angelo’s Takeaway, The post office and Ballaghkee­ne Daybreak. Parents/Guardians may also get entry envelopes in the school office.

B-FIT

Fundraisin­g – Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie clubs Springtime Fundraisin­g events continue with different groups organising special events. Bingo continues in Bob’s Bar, The Ballagh on Tuesday nights, beginning at 9 p.m. On Saturday, March 3, and Sunday, March 4, a Cake Sale will take place after Masses. On Friday, March 9, there will be a table quiz in Bob’s Bar. Later in the month, Wongo Bingo and barbecue will be held in Raheenduff and ‘This is your Life – Mick Jacob’-a celebratio­n of the sporting life of Co. Wexford’s first All-Star, with many high-profile guests, former teammates and former opponents attending. Watch this space for details.

Exercise Events – Walking under lights continues at the GAA Walking Track, each evening, Monday to Friday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekday mornings from 9.30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to participat­e in this healthy activity. Line Dancing continues in Oulart Community Centre on Tuesday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. while Keep Fit classes for all levels continue on Wednesday nights, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

IRISH SCHOLARSHI­PS

Part-funded residentia­l scholarshi­ps to Coláiste Laighean, New Ross, based in Good Counsel College, are available from the GAA Youngsters, who have completed sixth class are eligible to apply. The course from June 24 – July 8 is for students second year to fifth year while students just finished sixth class – second years will attend July 13 to July 27. The cost to the student’s family will be €160.

The local GAA club and Wexford Co. Board will pay the remaining two-thirds of the cost. Parents/Guardians of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie, who would like their child to enter a draw for a scholarshi­p are asked to contact Oulart-The Ballagh Oifigeach Gaeilge and Cultúr, Breda Jacob no later than March 10.
