DEATHS

To all families who have lost loved ones during the past week or so, we offer our deepest sympathy.

Edith Rebecca Beglin, Ballytramo­nt, Castlebrid­ge, died on Wednesday, February 21. She is survived by her husband Joe, son Dominic, daughter-in-law, relatives and friends. Removal took place on Friday, February 23, to Castlebrid­ge church with Requiem Mass on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock and burial afterwards to Castlebrid­ge cemetery.

The death occurred on Thursday, February 22, of Séamus McKenna, Curracloe. Husband to Ann, and father of Clare, Kieran, Sarah, Anne and Colm and brother to Eileen, Mairin, Pádraig, Theresa, Brian and Siobhán, he is also survived by his sons-in-law, grandson, relatives and extended family. His remains reposed at Mulligans funeral home on Sunday, February 25, with burial on Monday, February 26, to Curracloe cemetery.

The death occurred on Wednesday of last week, February 28 of John Hearne, Glenbough, Screen. He is survived by his wife Eileen and children John, Colm, Kenneth, Austin, Michelle, Anne and Barry and also by his brother Ollie. He reposed at his residence on Thursday and Friday with removal to Screen church on Friday at 1.30 p.m for Requiem Mass. Burial took place afterwards to the adjoining cemetery. RIP Enrolments.

SOCIAL DANCING

The next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community centre is Sunday, March 11. Music on the night is by the hugely popular Dave Lawlor. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. Admission is €8 so come along to what is sure to be a lovely night of music and dance.

ANNIE

Rehearsals are well advanced for the popular musical ‘Annie’ which will be staged in Oylegate Community Centre, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday two and Saturday, March 21, to March 24. Details re booking etc will be announced later.

COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

Oylegate National School parents’ associatio­n are holding a cookery demonstrat­ion with celebrity chef Edward Hayden in the Riverside Park Hotel on Wednesday, April 18, to raise funds for the School.

This well know celebrity chef will be whipping up a range of delicious and tasty meals. These can be easily recreated at home and are ideal for all cooks regardless of skill level. Edward is very familiar to radio and television audiences from his weekly cookery slots on TV3’s Ireland AM and regular appearance­s on radio.

Tickets are €15 and can be obtained in Freeman’s or from the PA Committee at 087 4156915. We ask everyone to please support this event.

Oylegate National School are now enrolling for September 2018. Call to the school for a form between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.

THE 2 JOHNNIES

Oylegate-Glenbrien camogie club present ‘The 2 Johnnies’ on Saturday, April 14, in Oylegate Community Centre at 8 p.m. Tickets are €15 each.

GAA LOTTO

GAA lotto held February 21, numbers drawn were 12, 14, 19 and 24 bonus 21. Lucky-dip winners were Shane Harron, Pamela Rowe, Katie Alcock, Conor Shanahan, Carol Heffernan, Fiona Power, Billy Reck, and Catherine and Jack Rigley. Next draw will be held on March 7 in Mernaghs Lounge, Oylegate. Tickets available locally.

HURLING 365

Volunteers are needed to help out with hurling 365 at Oylegate and Glenbrien National Schools one morning a month before school starts. If anyone can help out with this project in either school please contact Eamon Mernagh.

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communitie­s of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodat­e those attending appointmen­ts, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An informatio­n booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.
